Hello Students!

The Legal Studies and Social Science Departments cordially invite you to exercise your CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to celebrate our United States Constitution!

Join faculty, students and guest speaker Yasin Hassan, Paralegal & Systems Manager at Davis Ndanusa Ikhlas & Saleem LLP in a lively ā€œvirutal roundtableā€ discussion about how constitutional principles affect our daily lives, and how interpretations of the Constitution continue to evolve in response to new challenges.Ā  (Zoom info below)

Date: Wednesday, September 17, 2025

Time: 1:00pm-2:15pm

This year’s event will explore two timely and important themes:

  • The Expansion of Federal Power: How has the federal government historically expanded into areas once left to the states? And what are the implications of the most recent federal expansions, including into policing itself, for democracy and accountability?
  • Individual Rights and Citizenship: What do contemporary interpretations of the Constitution mean for fundamental rights, including the future of birthright citizenship?
