Feb. 27): (1) Read C&W ch. 3 (Jurisdictional Bases) and write (no need to type) a list of at (a) least 5 types of jurisdiction it addresses and (b) the CPLR section number of the Long Arm Statute that’s described and cited in the chapter.  (2) Find and read the “Long Arm Statute” in your CPLR!  (3) Bring CPLR!  Always, from now on.

For next class (Mon. Feb. 4):

(1) Read C&W ch. 2 (court structure) and answer Qs 4-7 on p. 21, in complete sentences, to be submitted on paper.  “Complete sentences” means, for example, that your answer to question 4 should start something like “The name of New York’s supreme court is …”

(2) Review the court charts & maps on the “Course Info” page.  (You’ll get paper copies Monday.)

(3) Write a post here on OpenLab about “Who You Are”!  Please include a few sentences addressing each of the following topics:  (1) why you are majoring in Law and Paralegal Studies, (2) something you want to learn or do in this course, and (3) something you want the class to know about YOU!!  (I mean “you” as a person–what you like to do, where you like to go, etc.–NOT about law!)  Instructions on how to post are here and under the “Course Info” tab.  For the “category” please choose “Who I Am (assignment).”  Everyone’s posts will appear under the “Blog” tab!  If you have trouble submitting this assignment as a post, you may submit it as a “reply” to my post about the assignment, also under the “Blog” tab.  But TRY very hard, first, to post it on your own!  I will not accept this assignment on paper.
