Greetings from the Founding Program Director of the Bachelor of Science in Professional and Technical Writing (PTW)!
We are delighted that you will be joining us.
Program mission statement
The PTW program prepares students to communicate clearly and effectively using a variety of tools and media. Students gain competencies that include writing, editing, problem solving, document design, rhetoric, interpersonal communication, collaboration, specialized expertise, and fluency in modern communication technologies.
Fun facts
- Students in this interdisciplinary degree program gain strong communication skills and a solid knowledge base through specialization in a content area—namely, a professional, scientific, or technical discipline.
Students specialize in Computer Science, Public Health, Communication Design, Marketing, Economics, Psychology, Social Science, Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. - Our program is supported by the New York Metro Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication.
Students in this major can join the New York Metro Chapter of the Society for Technical Communication and engage in numerous internship opportunities. - Graduates of the program will be ready for writing in the workplace as content managers, editors, grant writers, information architects, technical writers, usability professionals, web developers, and more.
