Brooklyn Navy Yard Fall Internship Program:

The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation’s Fall Internship Program connects college-attending students to a wide range of work opportunities with businesses within the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Students are connected to Brooklyn Navy Yard-based businesses according to their future career interests, skill sets, and educational background.

Internship Details: 

  • The 8-week fall internship will begin on Monday, September 20th and will end on Friday, November 19th
  • All accepted interns must commit to a part-time, 20-hours per week work schedule. This totals to 160 paid hours for the internship. All interns are compensated at $15/hour by BNYDC.
  • We are balancing remote work with in-person opportunities, based on health requirements and individual preferences.

NYC Courts Seeking Web Design Interns for Fall 2021

Looking for interns to assist with a redesign of the NYC Family Court website: http://ww2.nycourts.gov/COURTS/nyc/family/index.shtml

This is one of many public facing websites that make up the NY State Unified Court System.

Interns will be responsible for recommending  (thru the use of mockups, sitemaps, wire-frames & functioning HTML pages) ways to make the existing site more welcoming, easier to navigate, and user-friendly.

This can include but is not limited to: color schemes, content layouts, information architecture, art work, images  and multi-media, as long as it fits within the framework of the Court System’s Standards & Guidelines. General knowledge of web usability best practices and HTML 5 proficiency is required. Knowledge of MySQL and PHP is a plus.

NYPIRG Seeking Fall 2021 Interns

Dear COMD students,

NYPIRG just reached out to me to say they are looking for Fall Interns. The work will be remote. NYPIRG has an office on the City Tech campus but as all are working remotely now, they are as well. We have had COMD students work with them in the past and it has been a positive experience.

If you are not familiar with NYPIRG, see their website.  They are a public advocacy group committed to advocating for environmental legislation, voting rights, government accountability, among other issues.

According to NYPIRG, students will learn:

Students will learn about grassroots organizing techniques and new digital tools used to support social movements holistically. Their education in effective communication begins with learning key public speaking and community outreach skills, forming narratives and messaging through graphic design based on their interactions with the constituencies served by NYPIRG.

Responsibilities will include:

Interesting in Sports? Local Professional Personal Trainer Seeking Social Media intern Fall 2021

Raul Frank is a former professional fighter. He is currently a personal trainer. He won three boxing championships, and he was fighter of the year in 1998. He has been featured in the Boston Globe and he fought on HBO. Recently, he did an interview with the Daily Beast. Currently, Raul trains clients at Gleason’s Gym in New York City. He uses boxing-based workouts to help clients lose weight. His Instagram page is @raulfrankboxing.

Raul is looking for interns to help him increase his online presence. Raul hopes that interns can help with some of the following: 

  • Edit pictures and videos that will be posted to Raul’s Instagram Page. 
  • Help Raul to produce a YouTube Channel 
  • Create fitness drawings that Raul can use as online content
  • Manage Raul’s website, frankboxing.com 
  • Create designs for shirts that can be sold
  • Brainstorm new ways to increase Raul’s presence

To be clear, you do not need to come to Gleason’s for credit. You can work on content virtually. Josh Frank can meet with you via Zoom to discuss your work. If you have other ideas, Raul and Josh are happy to speak with you about doing them for credit as well.

Position Overview: 

This media internship offers you the opportunity to work directly on initiatives that drive our client’s business. You will be working in a cross-functional role, collaborating with our various media agencies and media practices. You will learn and apply basic media principles with IRL work experience. This is a 13-week, 20-hour paid internship that will start at the beginning of the 2021 fall/winter semester. This role has the potential to be remote.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Full-time rising junior, senior or graduating senior, currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited 4-year College or University
  • Interested in learning about inclusive marketing & advertising
  • Ability to commit to minimum of 20 hours a week for the duration of the program

Marketing/Social Media/Office Intern : Liz Wolfe Coach Coaching/Fall 2021

We are seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial candidate for an internship working with Liz Wolfe, a coach for entrepreneurs. This position will support the marketing efforts of Ms. Wolfe’s coaching programs.

The ideal candidate for this position will have an interest in social media, advertising and traditional marketing. They will also be a collaborative member of our team who is eager to learn and passionate about making positive impact in the world.

We will support you in getting a solid foundation of skills that are resume ready!

Activities will include the following:

– Maintaining social media marketing campaigns and accounts
– Creating email publicity campaigns using MailChimp
– Simple website maintenance and upgrades
– Collaborating to create and edit marketing and publicity materials
– Some light office administration work
– Conducting research in support of marketing and publicity campaigns
– Making follow up phone calls to prospective and existing clients
– Editing videos

Training provided for chosen candidate. Flexible scheduling available ranging from 10-15 hours per week.  This is an unpaid internship.

Work can be done onsite at our office if vaccinated for COVID. Remote work is also possible if candidate has access to a working computer.
