Goodwill Industries of Greater New York and Northern New Jersey, Inc.

 Position Title: Marketing, Publicity & Social Media Intern                      

Goodwill NYNJ empowers individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment to gain independence through the power of work.  As part of that mission, Goodwill operates a social enterprise called GoodTemps that places people with disabilities and other barriers to employment in temporary staffing positions.  GoodTemps is seeking a Publicity & Social Media Intern to assist with enhancing GoodTemps online presence and sustaining GoodTemps’ online engagement.
Marketing

  • Under the guidance of the GoodTemps team, develop content and materials for marketing efforts, including presentations, brochures, email blasts, website content, and online advertising
  • Build and update contact lists for sales and marketing outreach

Publicity

  • Work with the GoodTemps team to solicit success stories and testimonials that can be shared publicly, including outreach to current and past temps and employers
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve online reviews on sites like Yelp and Google

Social Media

  • Assist with the design and execution of social media campaigns promoting GoodTemps to employers and jobseekers
  • Create monthly editorial calendars to promote GoodTemps on various social media websites
  • Create and distribute content such as blogs, infographics, videos and press releases on social media, including Facebook, LinkedIn, and other outlets
  • Track social media engagement to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: Describe the skills, knowledge and abilities required.  Include educational and experience requirements and preferences.

Coursework related to marketing, publicity, and/or social media.

  • Knowledge of how to use social media effectively to generate interest in a product or service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary.
  • Must be organized and detail-oriented.
  • Must be highly computer literate.
  • Graphic design skills a plus.

Grove Publishing seeking Digital Book Editor Intern/Summer

Grove Street Publishing is looking for a talented Read Along Digital Book Editor intern with a passion for editing to join our creative team on the Grover platform. Partnering with the Chief Creative Officer, this intern position will focus on editing children’s books into read alongs (highlighting words) made from our publishing partners and internal creations. The editor intern will work closely with our publisher partners, authors, and the CCO to produce high-quality children’s books following Grove Street Publishing’s aesthetic style and design standards.

Responsibilities: • Edit compelling read alongs • Follow Grove Street’s aesthetic, design standards and house styles. • Work closely with CCO and team to meet deadlines

Required Skills and Qualifications: • Familiar and comfortable using Adobe Creative Suite and/or Final Cut Pro • Have access to a reliable computer • Proficiency with sound mixing (You will be linking audio to words) • A portfolio and/or demo reel demonstrating strong video editing in a variety of styles and voices • Knowledge of InDesign is a plus • Deadline oriented, ability to multitask and work under pressure, with excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. • Solid problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively and accept constructive criticism. • Positive, team player attitude. • Study in design, multimedia, or digital media related major in college preferred, but not required.

Grove Street Publishing is looking for a talented illustrator intern with a passion for art and children’s literature to join our creative team on the Grover platform. Partnering with the Chief Creative Officer, this intern position will focus on fiction, and non-fiction interior and cover page illustrations for children’s books of all ages. The illustrator intern will work closely with our publisher partners, authors, and the CCO to produce high-quality children’s books following Grove Street Publishing’s aesthetic style and design standards.

Responsibilities: • Conceptualize and execute the illustrations of pages and covers across all assigned titles under the supervision of the Chief Creative Officer • Follow Grove Street’s aesthetic, design standards and house styles. • Work closely with Chief Creative Officer and team from idea development to printed books. • Learn a current sense of design trends and familiarity with target audiences to understand consumer needs and preferences.
