Paid United Nations Graphic Design Internship Available for Spring 2018

Dear Students,

We currently have a CityTech Graphic Design Intern working this semester at the United Nations. This is an excellent spot as it is paid and it is working with an institution recognized worldwide. Below is a summary of the job functions as were posted for the Fall position. Summary of Key Functions:

  • Designing and building Websites, layouts and materials, and editing Web contents;
  • Producing clear, concise and vivid materials that convey key messages to target audiences;
  • Image management, including research and organization of the G77 photo library;
  • Perform certain administrative tasks such as mailing materials produced;
  • Reporting to and performing other related duties as required.

Education:

  • Enrollment in a University Degree Programme in Graphic Design, Illustration, Visual Communication studies or a related field. Applicants who have graduated from such studies within the recent three years will also be considered eligible for the position.

Experience:

  • Any prior work experience is not required. A portfolio of relevant work would be an asset.
  • Good Web and graphic design knowledge.
  • Good familiarity with Adobe CC suite DTP software i.e. Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and InDesign, or similar design/authoring tools.
  • Beginner/Intermediate knowledge of XHTML, HTML, CSS, Javascript.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, i.e. MS PowerPoint, MS Publisher, MS Word, and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of front-end UI and HCI from a design perspective.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and determination to meet deadlines.
  • General interest in photography and basic photography skills.
  • Knowledge of PHP and MySQL is a plus.
  • Knowledge of popular CMS systems, such as Drupal and WordPress, is a plus.

Note: All candidates are asked to include a portfolio with their application.

Language:

  •  Fluency in written and oral English is required.  Knowledge of second  G77 working language desirable

So, this is a spot worth applying to, especially if you are interested in event planning.  This is a small company in Manhattan and at small companies, one often can take on many roles and learn a great deal in a short amount of time. We haven’t yet had a intern with this company but the work looks interesting and you could be the first to land there.

Egg, a baby/young child clothes company is looking for a design intern for this semester. Ilona Dryda, a fellow CityTech student, is working there this semester in the design department and has informed us that they need additional interns.
