Final Proposal

Topic: It is about large-scale photographs incorporating architectural elements and sweeping natural and urban views. Genre: of photography interests me and I’d like to explore is the street photography. This is a big challenge to myself because a question is how I can make those famous places be more interesting. This might be large scale print (90×30 maybe). Honestly, I don’t know the purpose will it serve in my portfolio and how it will highlight my conceptual thinking, my design sense, my lighting skills yet but I feel very optimistic about this project.

Subject: Literally, I’ll be photographing the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline (B&W) daytime and nighttime, lower Manhattan skyscrapers and Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Bridge Tower and Cables, Manhattan’s cityscape from Soho vertical and horizontal.

Style: It will look like commercial use in editorial, display, and advertising campaigns. I will use panoramic photographic style to communicate the love of the city where my family and I are here for nine years now since we moved from another country. Anyway, my point is trying to show large-scale photographs incorporating architectural high buildings and city views. This is also the another looks at our city.

One example and one image with my description.

This view is an ultra high definition panoramic cityscape photo of Midtown Manhattan as seen from Soho, New York. This photo can be up to 90 inches wide.

Lighting: I will light it as this will be day and night in my project

Topic: What is it about? What genre of photography interests you and would you like to explore: street photography, food photography, portrait photography

Portrait photography and setting up different backgrounds

What purpose will it serve in your portfolio? Do you want to highlight your

conceptual thinking, your design sense, your lighting skills

I want to highlight my design sense, knack for color, lighting skills

Subject Matter: Literally what will you shoot?

The concept will be family, chosen and biological. I want to shoot my mom and siblings sitting portrait style, but I also want to include my friends and community

Style: What will it look like? How will you use photographic style to communicate

emotion and point of view? Find at least one example and include at least one

image with your description.

I will be using a backdrop, color and fabric to be determined, outside in a park or simply on the sidewalk. I want joy to be the primary emotion that comes across; I will achieve this through shooting my subjects laughing, embracing, etc. The image I’m including is a reference for how I want to set up the portrait: with a colorful backdrop.

Lighting: how will you light your project? This may be daylight.

I will be shooting in daylight

Andres Nunez- Final Project Statement

Topic – A general topic of photography that interests me would be street photography. Doing my final project on this would be exciting because once again, I enjoy going out and just walking around NYC. Before I use to walk around tourist place and never took time to just stay there and take pictures about what is really going on at these places. The purpose it will serve in my portfolio is that I can capture the feeling and experience of these places for the people that can’t come to these places and enjoy them in person.

Subject Matter – I will take pictures of the environment and people there.

Style – I would like to have a sunrise/sunset type of feeling to it. I want to create a feeling of excitement and make the viewer feel like they are in the picture. In order to create this sort of feeling, I will need to take the pictures at eye level. The picture below was taken by Kevin Burke and this is the style I want to create for my final project.

Lighting – I will use the sun for the lighting for the majority of my pictures. For some I may have to use street lamp lighting or lighting coming from stores.

HW 8: Photographic Style

There is much fill is used to brighten the shadows by candle lights on the left and right side. A background light used to separate the subject from the background is just the light above main character’s head. The palette’s tone is dark with yellow, black, and green created magical World. The models are magicians, so the palette is perfect for their hair and eyes. The framing is super tight because they wanted to make a chaotic situation and conflict between characters and subjects surround them such as bird, book, castle, moon, and hat. The angle of view is looking straight to the audiences.

Destiny Thomas – The Final Project Statement

Topic: What is it about?

  • This is going to be on food photography. I live with a baker and she is always baking so I thought it would be a cool idea to have her make something and I can photograph it. As well as enjoying the food photography lab in class. This will be something new in my portfolio. I think it will highlight how well I can place products and think about lighting and setup.

Subject Matter: Literally what will you shoot?

  • I will be taking photos of bakery foods, the baking ingredients, the utensils and he finished products.

Style: What will it look like?

  • I want all of my photos to be in a birds eye view. I think this view is the most appealing for food photography and seeing the bakery foods photography in this angle made it stand out for me the most. The background would be white and I want it to be a happy mood when seeing the photos.
This is a photo by Jennifer Preston – I included one of her photos in my mood board already but all of her photos are very bright and the placement of each item is well thought out. Most of her photos in the bird eye view fill up the frame which is another thing I want to show in my photos.

Lighting: How will you light your project?

  • I will photograph my photos in daylight and have some reflectors to help diffuse any harsh lighting or shadows. If I need any more lighting or to remove shadows I will have my own fill lights to help.
