Fairytale Folktale or Fable Reboot — Overall Description:

In this multilayered project you will reinterpret a classic folk tale, fairy tale, or established story found in pop culture or media through your own creative lens. (Inquire if this project can be adapted to support other work, projects, or your own story)

For example, Note how different artists over time have reinterpreted the story of Alice in Wonderland, by Louis Carrol.

Final Project has 4 required parts to this project.

1) STORY CONCEPT + 2) CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT + 3) FULL COLOR ILLUSTRATIONS + 4) PROCESS PRESENTATION

  • Part 1 Requirement 1: CONCEPT: Settle on a concept for your reinterpretation. The story should still be easily recognizable

  • Part 1 Requirement 3: STORY PROPOSAL: Write a brief ~3 paragraph summary of your proposed project to post to the open lab/share with class. INCLUDE: • What is the original story? Objectives

  • Leaping off of VIZDEV, WARDROBE and CHARACTER DESIGN that was an extention of last weeks TV/FILM+GAMING+ANIMATION trifecta of Illustration outlets. we go further into fashion, figure drawing, loosening our styles and being open to interpretations that suit the story and characters. We delve into the 3-prong world of Cartooning/Comics with a focus on -POLITICAL CARTOONS, HUMOR, & SEQUENTIAL ART as a means to express ourselves, tell our stories and engage your viewers with.

Activities

  • Week 12 Recap: POV + Narrative expanded into uses in 3 particular fields & more
  • DEMOS: Croquis Figure drawings + 3/4 face breakdown + Picasso Digital Coloring
  • LECTURE: Comics & Cartooning: Political Cartoons, Humor & Sequential Art. Designed to finalize the expectations of the Character Sheet (x2) portion of the final & show you the career opportunities that make use of these common skills of Illustration. Hitting the requirements of the Character Sheet requirements: 2 Poses + 3 Expressions + 1 Object
