Scholarship – Belle Zeller Scholarship Trust Fund

The Belle Zelle Scholarship program provides scholarships for CUNY students to continue in CUNY undergraduate, graduate, and professional school programs. Scholarship eligibility includes completing at least 16 credits at a CUNY college, with a 3.75 GPA or better, and having performed significant community service. Belle Zeller Scholars receive a scholarship in the amount of $5,000 a year. CUNY undergraduate students may receive the award for up to three years. Those attending the CUNY Graduate Center and Professional School will receive the award for one year, provided they continue to meet all criteria.

Job Opportunity – Asst. Super at BI Contracting

Better Image Contracting is hiring an Assistant Superintendent for a 10 story mixed use building project already underway. Assistant Superintendent Role responsibilities include daily onsite supervision of the project; assist with tasks and direction provided by the super; complete daily reports and or confirm daily manpower; walk with controlled inspectors conducting inspections; maintain project schedules, ie, 2 week look-aheads, monthly look-aheads and overall construction schedule; follow up with subs on daily and weekly activities; assist super in obtaining 2 week look-aheads from all the subs; ensure the subs are executing work in accordance with approved shop drawings; ensure the subs are executing work in accordance with approved material and data sheets; ensure the subs are executing work in accordance with plans, specifications and normal industry standard/tolerances; work with site safety professionals

Training – DOB Scholars Applications Due 1/16

The NYC Department of Buildings is focused on the growth and success of students interested in the architecture, engineering, and construction fields.  The DOB Scholars Program is a free, weekly, seminar series hosted at City Tech for CUNY students to network with each other and DOB Employees in various fields. This program is exclusive to CUNY schools solely as we are invested in uplifting CUNY students and fostering a strong community between DOB and CUNY.  Lectures will be given by Department of Buildings’ Subject Matter Experts in various fields such as Architectural Plan Examination, Structural Engineering, Construction Site Inspections, and more! 

The programming takes place in the Spring 2023 semesters on Wednesdays 6-7:30pm. Sessions will be held in person at City Tech’s campus.  The first session will be February 8th. See attached for information.

Brooklyn Navy Yard Spring 2022 Internship Program

The Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation’s Spring Internship Program connects college-attending students to a wide range of work opportunities with businesses within the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Students are connected to Brooklyn Navy Yard-based businesses according to their future career interests, skill sets, and educational background.

Internship Details:

  • The 8-week spring internship will begin on Monday, January 24, 2022 and will end on Friday, March 25, 2022.
  • All accepted interns must commit to a part-time, 20-hours per week work schedule. This totals to 160 paid hours for the internship. All interns are compensated at $15/hour by BNYDC.
  • We are balancing remote work with in-person opportunities, based on health requirements and individual preferences.
