Alumni News – Khiran Samsundar, Promotion at Jacobs Engineering Group

Khiran Samsundar, CMCE Construction Engineering Technology BTech class of 2018, received a promotion to Assistant Project Manager with Jacobs Engineering Group, and is currently working on Bellevue Men’s Shelter Rehabilitation. The project includes a complete roof replacement and electrical work including panel and feeder replacements, a 750KW emergency generator on the roof bulkhead with modification to existing bulkhead, and associated structural upgrades. Khiran previously worked on LaGuardia Airport – Central Terminal B Redevelopment, a design-build project consisting of 8 miles of roadway, 20 bridges, 3 million square feet of paving asphalt and concrete, estimated total labor hours of 11 million, over 40 thousand tons of steel, and 9 miles of baggage handling system. The project cost was approximately $4.83B. At City Tech, Khiran was President of the AGC Club, Co-Chaired the ACE Mentor Dinner events, and received membership in Sigma Lambda Chi, the International Construction Honor Society.

The Clemson University Summer Historic Preservation Institute invites undergraduate students to see first-hand the kinds of work historic preservationists do, all while immersing themselves in Charleston’s unique history, architecture, and culture. This intensive three-day experience includes tours and site visits to some of Charleston’s most iconic historic sites. Attendees will experience both the diversity of the historic places and voices that constitute Charleston’s shared history and the diversity of projects and careers that make up the field of historic preservation.  Space is limited to eighteen students.

Costich is growing their Survey Department by two persons; one would aid in field work and the other would assist indoors with processing, base mapping, boundary review, etc. Their firm recently obtained NYS WBE certification. Their surveyors use Leica TS06 fully robotic LEICA Geosystem instruments, Surveyor 2 data collectors running on the latest Carlson SurvCE software, and Carlson BRx6 Base and Rover Systems.

Experience: Minimum three (3) years experience as a Survey Crew Member/Chief with the ability to become a licensed Surveyor In Training (SIT) within a couple of years, with the goal of obtaining licensure as an New York Professional Land Surveyor (PLS); Education: Associates Degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field experience preferred; Location: Rochester, NY 14608
