Class–

I will be posting materials for you to cover on your own this week. You do not need to report to class on the 5th of November. We will have our midterm next week.

Homework for Week 6

  • Interview your client: be sure to get answers to your questions as soon as possible.
  • Come up with your initial proposal. You don’t need to have the report fully polished, but have the rough draft ready for next week. You will be presenting these informally in hopes of getting some critique that you can use to fine tune them.
  • Reread the material on the website, starting from the beginning. The midterm is cumulative, so anything we have covered is open game.

Week 6 Classwork

Group Projects

Here is a rough draft of the report I am preparing for a client. I’ll probably change the fonts and add a lot of details  but the structure is there. I expect you to create a Powerpoint or Keynote presentation of the same quality or better.

Client Interviews:

We will come up with the basic questions for the interviews together, then you will break out into your groups to fine-tune those questions as much as possible. We will also go over the emails you send to your clients to make sure they are pithy and polite. Your clients need to get back to you within a day or so, so we need to make sure to include that in your email.

 Midterm review, Part One

We will go over what we have covered in class so far, making sure to answer questions and such in preparation for the Midterm.

Groups need to find clients for the SEO/SEM Makeover Project

Here are the groups:

  • Group One: Dennis, Kevin, Zaida, Shuk, Josephine
  • Group Two: Edyta, Farid, Shanel, Pamela, Sean
  • Group Three: Aliya, John, Ira, Juan
  • Group Four: Bernadette, Matthew, Lisa, Charles

You need to find and agree upon a client site. That means you have some way of contacting the actual owner of the site so that you can interview him/her this week. The site should not be CMS based (no WordPress).

Homework for Week Four

Prepare a 3-5 minute report to give on your site for next class: what you have changed, what techniques you have used that we have discussed in class, what you hope to do in the future.

Next week, I will split you up into teams for the SEO/SEM Makeover Project. Start thinking of people with websites whom you know. You will be making suggestions to your team and voting on a final client. This person must have a live website online, and needs to be willing to have up go over it and make our suggestions. They will need to be available to be interviewed in person, by phone, or by email the week of the 15th of October.
