Hey there!

Class Three: Notes and Homework

Good morning! I am finally fully restored, so get ready to rock and roll!

Class Plan:

  • Review last week’s code, if you have it saved.
  • Download this week’s code.
  • Watch some videos on this wonderful site: Don’t Fear the Internet
  • Go over file paths, just to really drive that home
  • Construct rough site, complete with basic navigation between pages.
  • Go over site maps and wire frames:
    • Why do we make them?
    • How do we make them?

Homework:

  • Sitemap of your site: please make this in Illustrator or InDesign and send to me as a PDF by Friday.
  • Wire frames of your site: please make this in Illustrator or InDesign and send to me as a PDF by Friday.
  • Start filling the rough site we built in class with your content, meaning your text, rough styling, and color choices. We will add images in a little while. Remember, it will look horrible until we get the styling up to snuff.
  • Use the internet to help yourself! Go to HTML Dog, start coding on your own!

Homework: Class 1

Site idea:

You must decide what you will showcase in your portfolio site. Really think about the following questions:

  • Who would you really want to come to this site?
  • What is the one major idea you want this visitor to learn about you?

Site Domain and Hosting:

You must purchase your domain name and get hosting by next week. Here is a page with a video to walk you through that process.
