Organizing Faculty & Staff at City Tech, CUNY
Sing Out, Shout Out for #APeoplesCUNY !
Come Sing Out, Shout Out for #APeoplesCUNY on Saturday, December 2nd at 1 PM. Send a powerful message to the Governor and to CUNY about the power of CUNY to uplift students and communities. Everybody who loves somebody at CUNY is welcome! Everyone who wants a New Deal for CUNY, with free, high quality education for all, is needed!
CUNY allies will meet at the Governorâs Midtown office (map) 633 3rd Avenue, Manhattan, to Sing Out for the New Deal for CUNY and will then march to CUNY Central, just a few blocks away, to Shout Out for the contract that the unionized CUNY faculty and staff deserve.Â
Letâs join with the CUNY Rising Alliance and turn out to support a New Deal for CUNY and the workers of New Yorkâs great public university!
RSVP: DEC 2 SING OUT, SHOUT OUT
Why Sing Out?
Early December is the time to influence Governor Hochulâs Executive Budget proposal for next year. Itâs an opportunity to set the starting point of next yearâs funding struggle.
We’ll be singing out to affirm our progress toward #NewDeal4CUNY for free and fully funded education, to call for new investments in our students and communities, and to be part of the continuing tradition of song in labor and social movements. Join us!
Why Shout Out?
Faculty and staff represented by PSC-CUNY have been working eight months with an expired contract. Theyâve been bargaining since June, but the CUNY bosses still have not made an economic offer! The union is demanding a fair contract with real raises that supports justice and community at CUNY.
Wednesday, Nov. 1, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
PSC-CUNY Rally for a Just Contract at Borough Hall
On Wednesday, November 1, CUNY students, faculty and staffâled by the Brooklyn chapters of City Tech, Medgar Evers, Kingsborough, and Brooklyn Collegeâwill congregate in costume for a fun-filled, raucous event at Borough Hall and rally for a strong and just contract. Our contract expired last February, and negotiations for a new contract began over the summer. CUNY management wants to make brutal cuts in every domain, which would be disastrous for our members and our students. Join City Tech PSC members in our fight to gain a new contract that supports faculty and staff in serving our CUNY students.
Register now! Come in costume! Bring family and friends!

Local papers and news outlets have been covering the uproar over Mayor Eric Adams cuts to CUNY budgets…except the New York Times. The last NYT mention of university cuts in the city budget was a news article in early April, before the slew of rallies fighting cuts to CUNY. Since then, the NYT has remained silent on the Mayor’s cuts to CUNY education. Last week, however, the NYT couldn’t ignore Mayor Adams cold reception at the commencement for the 2023 graduates of the CUNY School of Law. CUNY’s Law School is the most diverse law school in the nation with the primary objective of serving the public interest (check out their mission statement). Looking forward to seeing the commencement posted so that we can all share in the celebration of these brave graduates.

JOIN THE RALLY THURSDAY May 11, 12:30 pm at the Tweed Courthouse (52 Chambers St), City Hall Park
CUNY students, faculty, staff, PSC members, and allies will rally on the steps of Tweet Courthouse (52 Chambers St) near City Hall before City Council meets on Thursday, May 11.
Mayor Eric Adams, a City Tech alum, has eliminated hundreds of unfilled faculty and staff positions at CUNY community colleges through his âProgram to Eliminate the Gapâ cuts. CUNY has been cut by more than $60 million in Fiscal Years 2023 and 2024. The City Council has been standing up to the mayor, demanding budget restorations and a $35 million increase to hire a new corps of full-time academic advisors.
Let the PSC know you’ll be there! https://psc-cuny.org/calendar/city-budget-rally/
