BUF 4700 was an intensive writing course that dove deep into the fashion industry’s most critical challenges today. Through rigorous research and analytical writing, I explored complex topics like sustainability, ethical manufacturing, and the rapidly changing landscape of digital fashion. Our major project involved developing a comprehensive research paper examining fast fashion’s environmental impact, challenging me to blend academic research with real-world industry insights. The course pushed me to critically analyze the tensions between creativity, commerce, and social responsibility in fashion. We engaged in extensive writing workshops that honed my skills in academic writing, research methodology, and persuasive communication. By the end of the semester, I had transformed from a casual observer to a critical thinker capable of dissecting the nuanced challenges and potential solutions within the contemporary fashion industry.
