  • Read Ching BCI on Egress A.10-A.11. 
    • Submit scanned + formatted Reading Notes+ Sketches
    • In addition to your notes + sketches, identify the following and be ready to discuss: 
      • How many means of egress do I have access to in my home? 
        • Where are they and how do I access them?
      • Sketch out a plan of your home showing how you would exit the building in case of an emergency. If you live in an apartment building, be sure to show the path all the way to the outside of the building, not just your own apartment.
        • Keep in mind that every building should have at least 2 means of egress.

  • Module I: Case Study Order and Geometry Diagram
    • Finish final plan geometry diagram

      • Find a stair near you (home, park, etc…), measure it, draw it in plan and section, and confirm whether or not it complies with the building code based on what you’ve learned in the reading.
      • What are the key things to look for when trying to figure out if a stair is code compliant?
