The Hunger Games of Civil War

When I hear the word war or soldiers the first things that comes to my mind is dead, hunger, and poverty. I understand that the life of a soldier in the civil war is very different from the 20th-century soldier. I’ve never take importance to the diet that soldiers had.
If somebody asks me which type of food they have: I’ll say dry fruit, grain, powdered milk, and coffee. Still, I never imagine that diet was so important.

First of all, reading about their diet makes you know that food quality hasn’t changed too much. Hence, soldiers have a sedentary life. It’s impossible to bring a refrigerator to keep. It takes time and electrical energy its use. In fact, what surprised me more is to know that soldiers were unable to cook for themselves. After all, the necessary force you to learn.

Coffee, computer, and phones are part of our life. It can represent an approach of memories that remind us happiness, family and, friends. Yes, soldiers were happy to have a cup of coffee no matter the conditions because it makes them feel alive and motivated to survive. For some people, coffee drinkers tend to be addicts to coffee. What I think is that coffee has become part of our routine. When you do not do something that is part of your routine you feel incomplete. Of course, coffee is not my everyday drink, but sometimes I drink it to feel awake.

As well as soldiers, I’m of those people who always carry a bottle of water. Most of my time I’m drinking water, for this reason, there should be a bottle of water in my bag if I don’t have I go to the vending machines and buy one. Definitely, between food and coffee, I’ll give up coffee because I love my Mexican food so much. But by putting myself in the soldier’s position, probably I’ll give up food.

While I’m not the biggest fan of coffee or Mexican, I do see where you’re coming from. This summary was really well thoughtout compared to the others, including my own. I do agree with everything else you said about the whole soldiers’ food dilemma. I think it’s terrible of what they’re feeding them. How will they make it out there in a war?
