By the end of last semester, I had just the basic procedural generation for the trees done.
Since the beginning of this semester, I have worked on:
- The calendar system, now fully functional as a basis for the future visual garden elements;
- The watering cans system, functional as an interactive UI setup with particle systems for the water flow; painted the visuals for the cans Krita;
- The basis for the journaling system;
- Scene transitions.
While making the project, there often arise questions, which I find answers for online, continuously learning along the way.
I have met with Prof. Smith on 3/14 and he has given me several pointers to my questions:
- Introducing displacement to branches with affine transformations
- Using openGL for applying textures
- Saving on quit to a json or xml file
- Exploring more mathematical concepts in generation (fibonacci, pascal’s triangle, golden ratio, calculus over algebra)
- Suggested ideas like picking the next seed from a grown tree and a social garden element
