For the capstone in the textile program at New York City College of Technology. BUF 4246 Future Fashion and Technologies allowed me to practice the skills I learned from the first two courses and research the history of the textile industry and textiles. The importance of Smart Textiles and Sustainability. This course was set up of 4 modules:

1st Module: Research a sustainable driven company and create a presentation on how they make their profits and how they remain sustainable.

2nd Module: Research the issues happening in the industry, and how they have added to the world’s pollution. Along with a Lab Project about natural dyes and how they are a sustainable way of “upcycling” old garments.

3rd Module: Search for the different types of smart textiles and list their similarities. Use the knowledge we gained to create our own LED lights incorporated garment.

4th Module: Create your own Idea of a garment or clothing line that will be sustainable. It does not need to be completely factual, but A SWOT analysis is needed, and a COGS as well.
