Decarbonize CUNY Town Hall City Tech

he PSC Environmental Justice Working Group will host a Decarbonize CUNY Town Hall, co-organized with campus leaders and Public Power NY. This event aims to educate members, our students, and our communities, and to increase pressure on the New York Power Authority as they develop a plan of action this winter. This event will make our voices heard on the need to decarbonize CUNY’s over 300 buildings.

Join us on September 12th at 12:30pm. The event will be held in the Library Building Amphitheater, LG-30 at City Tech (300 Jay St, Brooklyn, NY 11201 US)

The mode of instruction is in-person lecture and lab, we will be meeting all scheduled Tuesdays and Thursdays (or Wednesday and Friday). As a 3/4 lab class, be prepared to work in class during all our meetings.

For the first class, prepare a short presentation, six images minimum, about your work your and your interest, in Miro it should include:

  • Name and last name
  • A recent picture of you
  • Your interests/hobbies
  • ARCH1231 Building Tech I
    • Module 1: ordering plan, plan, section, and elevation
    • Module 2: plan detail, wall section, axon detail 
    • Module 3: timber framing, or group urban design project  
  • 3 Design drawings and images from 1 project minimum

Software tools the class will be using include:

You are encouraged to set up accounts and or download these software applications prior to class.

You will be required to keep your work updated on both a hard drive or flash drive AND on the cloud (Drop Box or OneDrive or similar).

Allen, Edward and Joseph Iano. (2019). Fundamentals of building construction: Materials and methods (7th ed.). John Wiley & Sons.
