COMD1112 – Future Online

(Repost from Blackboard)
Hello Students,

I hope you and your families are doing well. I know things may be a bit confusing and maybe even scary, but we will get through this new way of life and learning, and hopefully things will begin to feel normal again real soon. In the meantime, we will press on.

As we transition to a distance learning style, I need a bit of information from you. Please fill out thisĀ Google QuestionnaireĀ ASAP so I have an ideal what your capabilities are.Ā  We will be utilizing several different platforms which include, Blackboard, OpenLab. Google Drive and a video chat (probably ZOOM). As you can see all of these require InternetĀ access. You can download the ZOOM appĀ for free to use on your desktop computer or mobile device. It works on both Android and iOS.

Our next class will be this Friday, March 20, 2020, but it will be on line. I will probably do a video chat using ZOOM, so that we can get used to our new way of learning. Learning onlineĀ takes a lot of discipline, so I recommend that you still set aside Fridays, 8am-11:20am for this course and not fall behind with the work. It will be up to you to do the assignments and participate in the discussion forums, etc.

Since we missed last Friday, I will making an adjustment in the syllabus and listing the assignment for our March 20th session.

In the meantime, please make sure your reading is up-to-date. If you don’t have a copy of the textbook yet, I encourage you to get a digitalĀ (eBook). You can rent it fromĀ AmazonĀ for $34.99. You can also rent the paperback version for $54.99. You were using the book that’s on reserve in the library, you may still be able to do that, but I’m not sure. We were originally told that the library and computer labs would be open for students to use, but that is not clear now with all the restrictions. I will keep you up to date.

Be sure to check your email each day so you can keep up with communications from me.

If you have any questions between now and Friday morning, you can reach me at mbrown@citytech.cuny.edu. COMD1112Ā  should be in the subject line so I know it’s class related.

Be well, be safe.
Professor Brown
