Worksheet

LITERARY CIRCLES

WORKSHEET A

INSTRUCTIONS: This worksheet aids in gathering information necessary for serving as a panelist on the Thursday “Literary Circles” presentations. It is divided into five sections, with each section devoted to a different aspect of the short story.  Within the Literary Circle groups, each person assumes responsibility for a examining a different aspect of the short story.

During the Wednesday computer lab sessions, students do the research necessary to answer the questions posed in the worksheets. The completed worksheets are to be submitted into the student’s portfolio. The portfolio will be graded at midterm and again at the end of the semester. Collectively, the worksheets, participation on Thursday panels and other classroom participation factors, constitute the class participation score, which becomes 20% of the terminal course grade.

Over the course of the term, students rotate serving in different roles involved in examining different aspects of the short stories being examined. Note that, in the worksheet below, each space is devoted to a different subtopic to be presented on the Thursday panel.
