Both the front matter and the back matter are vey interesting and are the hook of the book. All the way through the front matter of the book the author establishes credability for the book and why people should consider reading it. He begins the very begginng of the front matter by qouting people who have read the book and what it did for them. Continuing in the “Authors Preface To The Paperback Edition” you can see the author state excactly what the purpose of the book is. On the very first page the author states that “The Power of Now continues to play its part in the urgent task of the transformation of human consiciousness”. Which in the authors own way believes is the “next step in human evolution (pg 236). Eckharts teachings on Transformation of conciousness is the at the core of his teachings which he considers an “essential aspect of this awakening coinsists in transcending our -ego-based state of consiousness” (pg236). Eckhart considers his teachings not as a quest for personal journey but he considers it as a “prerequisite” to end violent conflict around the world. On the back matter it again shows the authors credability stating things like “Eckhart Tolle is a contemporary spiritual teacher who is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition” showing that his thoughts and ideas are not biased and are not influenced by religion or any other institutions. The book does seem interesting but I am not one to sit down and read these self help books.
