After reading a few chapters of the book I realized that Smiles has a different perspective. In the chapters, Smiles talked about human nature and how it connects to people’s daily activities. People are responsible for their success or either failure. Smiles proposed knowledge as the highest human enjoyments and education as an erratic road which goes along with. He later educated himself basically he tried to make us realize that we can change what is coming next for us by self help. I also liked the quote stated in chapter 3: “Patience is the finest and worthiest part of all fortitude, and the rarest too……”. It means that we have to be patient in order to succeed and the main thing is rare nowadays which is “patience”. I liked the chapters I read because it stated everything in order and was easy to understand.
