Small summary of chapter 24 & 25:
The characters are attacked and results in Jill death and Lauren getting hurt.
During the last chapter the people argue on either staying or leaving in the burn down place that use to be the doctors sisters land and end it up staying and trying to start over.

These are some of the quotes that classmate shared that stood out to them:

Class Notes for 3/23/17

We started of with continuing discussion from chapter I-II (65-129). Afterwords we were pair in to groups of three in which we were given questions to answer as a group later to show our quotes two per team some examples below ( all different answers to question one only):

Group 1: ” Until they become conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious” ( top of pg. 73). Short explanation: They have the power to rebel but since they the proles are already use to this treat

“It was curious that he seemed not merely to have lost the power of expressing himself”(top of pg. 8). Short  explanations : Winston has so much bottle up and not sure were to start.

Group two: “In the end the party would announce that two and two made five, and you would have to believe it”(Top of pg.82).Short response: Is not cool that the party is spreading lies and having people just accept it.

“Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four.If that is granted, all else follows”(bottom of pg.83).Short response: Winston expressing thought of his own about how people should be able to think differently other then accepting everything to be true.

Group three: “Your worst enemy, he reflected, was your own nervous system”(bottom pg.65). short response: Talking about how the control of the nervous system helps Winston not get caught that he is doing something suspicious .That is why he has the book so he could let it out there.The more he writes the more he opens up his mine.

“If their is hope [wrote Winston] it lies in the proles. if there was hope, it must lie in the proles,because only there, in those swarming disregarded masses, eighty-five per cent of the population of Oceania, could the force to destroy the party ever be generated”(bottom pg.71).Short response: shows how the proles could rise up and take over since their is more proles then they are in the party.

Vocabulary:

archaic- very old or old-fashioned.

aesthetics – a set of principles concerned with the nature and appreciation of beauty, especially in art.

Homework:To continue reading up to page 230 and finish answering the questions on the handout will be collected.(but you guys already knew this sins this is posted on 28 and to the 23)

(the short response do not accurately explain the quotes in the word of each group is a short or sort of similar to what the groups have said.)

There will come soft rains analisys

“There Will Come Soft Rain” by Ray Bradbury, is about a far future in which civilization has been destroyed but their is one house still standing.We see another side of when there was still life around in which we see the house activated to make breakfast, cleaning, the bath, dinner, and provide security.

There is more to the story in which we see towards the middle of page 3 in which a voice that come from the study ceiling reads a poem. What I got from the poem is that even if destruction were to happen the world will keep on moving as if nothing happen (in short). Which is ironic because the house then caches on fire because of the tree that falls on the house through the kitchen window and land over the oven. We see that the house starts to stop the fire from spreading but is not successful and falls down. In the end one wall stand and when the sun rises a voice says “Today is August 5, 2026, today is August 5, 2026, today is …” (4). Even after all that disaster of the house burning down we see that even the own house has not processes what has happen and continues to proceed to continue as normal.

 

Introduction?

Hello there my name is Jennifer Guzman Guerrero. I am not very good with introductions in person as well as talking in general. The major I’m in is Electromechanical Engineering Technology (Had to check what I was majoring since I sometimes forget can you believe it but anyways). What I mostly like to do on my days off is play call of duty and Kingdom hearts on my PlayStation 4 as well as go for runs outside to relax also if I don’t play for too long I like to also read some manga’s and watching anime but mostly reading manga’s. I like to listen to any sort of music as long as it sound good to me I am okay with it but what I really listen to a lot is k-pop (if you don’t know what it is just check online I don’t what to explain what it is… yup). Well anyways I don’t have anything else to say so I hope this is good enough.

I believe is time for some questions from Dr. Belli so here are my answers (answers are not in order and the questions will not be written here because is too much work). I already had experience using openlab during my first semester at city tech in my python class I probably made a website but I do not recommend checking it out is horrible but if you want you can check it out just don’t judge I wasn’t sure what I was going and still don’t. My weaknesses in writing is that am not very good at it my spelling is horrible and I always make my sentences to long which is what I am doing right now, as for reading I read slowly not a fast reader at all. My strength in writing and reading is that there is none that I know of so just none. What I like about reading is that sometimes I like to pretend to give a character a voice they might have when they say something but in my head not out loud but what I don’t like about reading is that if the story is not interesting after like half way through a book I will not continue it. I guess my experience with science fiction is that in the game call of duty finite warfare is based on the future also played a Star Wars game that was for the psp. As well as seeing movies like back to the future, Transformers, also Star Wars (not sure if they count). I don’t think that science fiction applies in my major but I just wanted to try taking the class. Okay then no more questions (even do there is still one more question) now I have nothing else to say so see you later since we’re all in the same class and there is no need for a good bye.
