original topic: which came first the earth or the sun? (10/13) revision (10/18) new topic : How has Money play a role in America’s social movements ?

Old Draft 10/13

How I got interested in this question is because I wanted to know the time frame of which came first the earth or the sun. I’m deeply interested in this question because I think I can pull as much information from this question easily in terms of research.  what I’m expecting to find in my research is which came first the earth or the sun based on information about the sun and the earth I wanted to know deeply how the sun form before the earth and learn the time frames of which developed first in terms of how the world came as one. I’m also expecting to find how the earth formed as one and how the sun formed as one.  I also wanted to know which was popular at the time the sun or the earth in order to know which came first.  If I come across any information that doesn’t match my hypothesis then no worries I’ll just research more deeply for more information based on the topic I recently choose.

Source 1: https://www.csmonitor.com/Science/2014/0928/Which-came-first-Earth-s-water-or-the-sun  The author quotes that “Scientists have long debated whether the solar system’s water came from ice ionized during the formation of the solar system, or if it predated the solar system and originated in the cold interstellar cloud of gas from which the sun itself was formed”  The author explanation behind this quote is that he’s trying to explain that scientists have discovered that the solar system’s water came from ice ionized during the formation of the solar system which means that the cold interstellar cloud of  gas  made the sun form which is a part of the solar system.

Source 2 : https://www.discovermagazine.com/the-sciences/earths-water-is-older-than-the-sun  The author quotes that  â€ś A new model of the chemistry of the early solar system finds that up to half the water now on Earth was inherited from an abundant supply of interstellar ice as our sun formed”.   The explanation behind this quote is telling the audience that scientists have developed a new model of chemistry of the early solar system that finds that up to half the water now on earth was inherited from an abundant supply of interstellar ice as the sun formed.

Source 3 : https://news.uchicago.edu/explainer/formation-earth-and-moon-explained#howwhenearth  The author quotes that “The Earth, like all the other planets in the solar system, started out its life as a disc of dust and gas orbiting the young Sun”. “The dust particles were brought together by the forces of drag to form clumps of rock that grew into “planetesimals” tens to hundreds of miles across, and then to Mars-sized “protoplanets” by colliding with each other”.  “Earth grew to its final size through one last major collision with another Mars-sized object”.

The explanation behind this quote is explaining that The Earth like other planets started out as a disc of dust and gas orbiting the young sun and also how the dust particles were brought together by the forces of drag to form clumps of rock that grew into planetesimals which mad earth grew even more into its final size. I also notice that the author’s writing style seems for persuasive in a way among explaining which came first between the earth or the sun.

In conclusion: what I find in my research is how the earth and the sun formed and also which came first. What surprised me is that the earth eventually came first before the sun because of the way of how both developed in a certain period of time.

The understanding of my question has deepened in a way that it made me research more information among the earth and the sun in terms of how its formed and the time frame of which came first. What I learned that is most important is how the earth and the sun developed in a specific time frame.    I think other students or colleagues who are interested in scientific questions  like this should know about which came first the sun or the earth or which formed  first because then they will have an idea of which was made first in a specific time frame and how bother are created.

New Draft 10/18

Well overall speaking of money a-lot of people were poor throughout their lives and some people didn’t have the majority of jobs that were offered because they didn’t have ways of living so instead people have to find their ways to make money and support their own families but of course that wasn’t the case at all people were losing benefits and and loans due to low income amongst their own resources without money they wouldn’t be able to survive throughout their aspects of life. what interested me about this question is that I noticed that without money the society that. people would live in would eventually become bankrupt not only peoples benefits are screwed but people may also fear at risk of also losing their homes and not being able to provide enough value for their families wants and needs.

Even the governments would lose out towards society because without money the whole population would be in depth of how society is living and how it will fall amongst others living on the same background. In this research Im expected to find key ideas on how money not only affected its people but also how it affected the important things in life throughout society. I know that a-lot has changed throughout society but money shows a larger experience of how the important things in life are being affected in life. I will also go more in depth on how money infiltrated lives poorly and how truly important money affects the population with the amount of people involved within that society.

If I”m able to come across any sorts of information involving money and how it affects the important things in life then this should lead me to how money surrounds the community and how it supports the important phases of life not only the people but the society and how it evolved outrageously towards people and how it made people generously feel about having money in their own lives.

Among this question I have a strong possibility that money has affected people”s lives in many different ways such as their living opportunities. I will learn alot from this topic because I feel like I can achieve the outcome of how money is being affected towards people and their lives and how it may change the society in terms of living standards, certain bills people may have to pay, providing food for families and helping the whole community throughout their own living standards and accusations more better.

I will also talk about the living habits and also how money has affected that stage in life and how it became more inhabitable to most people in most for their own wants and needs. I feel like this question may influence others and show a better approach of why money is important to people”s lives and their own living habits.

Overall I feel like I expanded this research question enough to switch my thoughts around and dive deeper into my own ideas across this question and accurately support this question to the point where I know I can explore many ideas dealing with money and how it affected majority of people”s lives and the downfall amongst it.

what I’m trying to propose throughout this question is how money involves throughout people and their living opportunities the positive outcome and the negative outcome. The specifics behind this question made me realize how much money involves throughout people and the society throughout their differences of living standards. I’m curious about this question because I want to know how money impacted the daily lives of people and their own living standards.

The reason why I choose important is because I know that money contributes to many people in this american society that we live in today for example out of all human inventions, money was so powerful towards american society because it helped spark the development of writing and the organization of the first city states.

Money even allows us to meet our basic needs to buy food and shelter and pay for healthcare. Meeting these needs is essential, and if we don”t have enough money to do so. our person wellbeing and the wellbeing of the community as a whole suffers greatly. Having enough money also provides a sense of security, one that is often missing when people worry about unforeseen medical expenses or losing their job for example a study in 2017 found that almost 50% of Americans worry about their financial situation, and it impacts their mental health, relationships, diet, even their work performance. when I found out that money was very important in todays american society it made me very interested not only for the people or the health care or the mental health problems, or work performance or relationships, it was more so of the community that went through all of these issues and stress among how difficult it was to achieve money throughout this american society we live in.

In my research Im expected to find how important is money in our life and how people benefited from it. I’m expected to find how money contributed to people and how it changed their lives even if their lives is at risk at least I’m able find information among how money involved the american society change people”s lives equally. In today”s society money has been a problem throughout american society but also changed people’s lives living in that society further more congress passed the bank secrecy act of 1970 which requires banks to report any financial transactions of ten thousand dollars or more.

Congress followed this act sixteen years later with money laundering control act of 1986 which rendered money laundering as a federal crime alot of people are viewing this as a huge stepping stone in america”s society because people were struggling due to low income standards and transactions throughout banks due to money laundering and that’s how people were at risk of low wealth standards.

I want my research to cover how much money means to people and the world no matter the struggle or the benefits of their wants and needs throughout history and the american society we live in today.

If I find information that completely goes against what I find that therefore my opinion would change but nevertheless, it would be still interesting to me.

Currently, my belief is that it played an important role in american’s society in the development of certain movements and I expect to find more details to support my claim but in the scenario that my research goes against what information I expect to find, I will not change my belief and instead I will go into a different area of research. In the end, regardless of whether my point stands, I will definitely learn more about a topic that I am personally interested in. I also hope to inform the people who read it about the importance of money not just in today’s society, but throughout history.  from housing, to mental health, educational opportunities among others and food, Money has played an important role in not just the influence of people and their emotions, but in the development of humankind itself.

The effect of Ludonarrative Dissonance in video games?

Revision as of DATE: 25 Oct 2022, Title: “The affect of Ludonarrative Dissonance in video games?”

I have played a lot of video games. You could say it’s the thing I am most passionate about. Video games are often seen as immature or childish, but often, if not a lot of the time, the intricate and raw stories they can tell are truly marvellous. The narratives video games can create is one of the reasons I love them so much. It’s a unique form of literature, perhaps something other forms of media can’t really emulate. When watching a movie you, as the audience, are not really involved in any of the events unfolding on screen, the same goes for books or plays and the sort, there is a disconnect, but with video games the plot is driven by the audience themselves, namely the player. The events that unfold on the screen are usually due to us, the player’s, actions, making us live the story and take responsibility for the consequences, even if we often do not get a say in it, we are still the ones in control. Graphic and disturbing content is nothing new to the media but due to said nature of video games it often gets into a lot of trouble with the general consensus and mass media. But the interactive element of video games really make it a medium for storytelling like no other, creating immersive, powerful and compelling narratives all the while putting us right between it.

Not only do video games tell stories through the plot they are weaving but also through the way it has to be played. To explain simply, games aren’t exactly like reality where we can try out whatever we think of, there are limitations. As such, A specific set of systems or actions are allowed for the player to carry out in order to play and progress the game, called gameplay or game mechanics. The things we do and are allowed to do in a video game contribute to building the narrative just as much as the plot does. They create a narrative of their own reflecting the game’s world and the people in it. As in other forms of media, observing the actions and choices taken by characters can further explain the plot and the characters themselves, afterall actions speak louder than words. This applies to video games as well, but here the audience themselves are the ones having to perform these actions and go through with those difficult choices. This brings us to the topic we are researching here, Ludonarrative dissonance. Ludonarrative dissonance is when the mechanics of a game, i.e. the gameplay/game mechanics, do not coincide or reflect the plot being told by the game. When this gameplay, the ludic part, does not agree with the plot or story elements, the narrative part, that is when we observe Ludonarrative dissonance. Ludonarrative dissonance is a relatively recent concept coined by videogame designer Clint Hocking in 2007, though the concept has existed for much longer. People have used the term in various ways, sometimes improperly, and most often to criticise the realism of video games. A popular example of this would be the Grand Theft Auto series where the main character or protagonist of the game often does not come across as a psychopath or bad person if you listen to the story, they are sometimes likable even, but when playing the game the player can commit mass murders, violent crimes and many other actions which often do not fit the character’s personality or ideology. One moment you could be shown a scene of how the character abhors killing after seeing his fair share of bloodshed, but in the next moment you could be committing mass homicides of your own free will, since the game allows something like that to happen. Something like this can potentially take away the immersion of a game, making the gameplay and narrative fight instead of complimenting each other. Sometimes it can even make the story portray a message different than the one intended by the developer. While this phenomenon and its effects may not always be extreme, it can certainly affect how a game is perceived, sometimes even deviating it entirely from what the creators originally intended it to be.

I will be researching various examples of documented Ludonarrative dissonance in video games and people’s opinion on the matter. Since this is not a statistical topic most of what I find, as well as my own conclusion, may very well be opinionated. I expect most people to agree that Ludonarrative dissonance has detrimental effects on gameplay, taking players out of the immersion and making it a worse experience. I may discover certain games that have been ruined due this and will subsequently try to understand why people think so. I also expect to find games that may use this concept to their advantage instead, creating a more compelling narrative, playing with and subverting the player’s expectations. Sometimes it may also be a necessary device for making enjoyable gameplay or maintaining pre established game mechanics. Having played a lot of video games myself I will also use my own experiences to judge sources, since as stated this can be a very opinionated topic.

Revision as of DATE: 19 Oct 2022, Title: “How can video games help children’s mental development?

A lot of my life was built around video games. Friends, family, work, school, entertainment, almost everything had something to do with gaming. So as a child who grew up playing a lot of video games, it always interested me how it might have affected me. Playing games and watching people play them fascinated me for as long as I can remember. So why are we, especially children, so fascinated with video games and does it affect the mind. As far as I have observed it is the same for most children and more recently even adults. Since the inception of video games it has been a medium like no other. From its humble beginnings as two dimensional polygons to the hyper realistic simulations of reality we see today, video games have changed vastly. Today, it is arguably one of the biggest mediums we have not just for entertainment, but in terms of e-sports, simulations and business.

It is no secret that news outlets and mass media have traditionally stigmatised and not looked very kindly upon video games. Video games have long been blamed for a lot of wrongs and problems in society. Shooting, violence, even general stupidity have all been blamed on video games, and most of this has usually been targeted at children. The unfiltered and uncontrolled way in which we consume media probably has negative effects on children and the way they develop. Gaming addiction among children has also become a problem in many societies. Children often fail to distinguish between fiction and reality as well when playing too much. There have also been links to people eventually becoming delusional and developing psychosis due to excessive gaming.

In recent years, however, there have been claims of several positive effects of playing video games. Playing video games lets children explore ideas and theories in ways we may not have been able to provide through other medias. Gaming has also shown to improve problem solving skills, creativity and reflexes. It is a medium that lets us experience and observe in a way to other medium can, allowing us to train and develop skills in a safe and controlled environment. Gaming is also fast becoming the future. A multi billion dollar industries with vast opportunities and jobs, constantly growing.

In case I do find contradictions to my expectations I will have to reassess my notions. I will try to first of all try to find the actual effects of playing video games on the human mind and work from there. Finding and studying several experiments and statistics on video games by credible and reliable sources will be key in establishing a proper outlook on the subject matter. I will compare these results and come to an unbiased conclusion as to how media actually does affect the mind, mental growth and our thought processes.

Original: “How media influences mental growth and development?
DATED: 12 Oct 2022

As a child who grew up watching, listening and reading a lot of media and pop culture, it always interested me how it all probably affected me. Since the inception of entertainment people have always used it to make statements and present ideas. Media and entertainment are probably more prominent now than they have ever been and as time progresses can only be expected to increase. As such media is probably one of the driving forces that influences our thoughts and way of thinking in the modern world. Everyone consumes some, or more likely multiple, forms of media every single day. Movies, Music, Video Games, Social media, etcetera, etcetera , from children to adults, have undoubtedly become integral to our lives to the point some can’t imagine living without it. Perhaps the things we can learn from media cannot be taught by anyone else. It engages us and captivates us, but it would not be too outlandish to claim that consuming media can also be an addiction. Children glued to screens watching videos, teenagers tapping their phones completely unaware of their surroundings, even adults ignoring their responsibilities and watching stuff on their phones or TVs. Technology being more available may have a lot to do with this but I want to focus on the media aspect and its effect on the mind.

I believe media becoming more readily and easily accessible also has contributed to this greatly. I expect media to have both positive and negative effects on the human psyche. Consuming media probably opens new perspectives and lets us explore ideas and theories we may not have considered. It jogs creative processes and probably helps with writing and composition. I believe different kinds of media may also have different kinds of effects on people. I am especially interested in how video games affect mental development as it is probably the most interactive and unique kind of media out there. I am also interested how reading and watching content affect the mind differently.

In case I do find contradictions to my expectations I will have to reassess my notions. I will try to first of all try to find the actual effects media does have on human minds. I will try to find experiments and statistics on media by credible and reliable sources. I will compare these results and come to an unbiased conclusion as to how media actually does affect the mind, mental growth and our thought processes.

Why has the average quality of a AAA game decreased over the past decade.

Revised as of 10/25/22

When looking at a game, people tend to look at the company who made the game. There are plenty of large studios that have made fan favorites across the years, always being known for pushing out some of the greatest titles. These companies are known as AAA studios (a.k.a. Triple A studios). Although there isn’t a specific definition for what makes a AAA studio, many people use the term to describe large companies with large teams dedicated to their games. A lot of these AAA studios have entertained the masses so much that they look forward to their next game with high expectations. With this in mind, why have AAA games been on a decline over the past few years?

In recent years, the quality that these AAA games once had is no longer there. Games that are unfinished are being released far too early. Games that are practically copy and pastes of older additions are being churned out with little extra effort. Games that are made to capitalize on the name brand only to stain the legacy the older games made. All of these things have been seen from so many different AAA studios that it has become a trend. I speak from personal experiences where I have been hyped for a game, only for it to be released in a barely playable state. Games like Anthem from Electronic Arts, Fallout 76 from Bethesda, and Cyberpunk 2077 by CD Projekt Red. All of these companies have made and published fan favorite games in the past yet when they were released, these three titles were close to unplayable. However, the lack of quality didn’t stop E.A. and Bethesda from pushing Microtransactions in their $60 game. It was infuriating to preorder a game that was released so poorly yet the cash grab part worked perfectly.

With this in mind, I intend to figure out why the quality of games (on release) from companies like these have slowly decreased. Although I understand a lot of it will have to do with maximizing profits, I do expect to learn more about the working conditions in studios like these and how it affects the quality of a game. I’m expecting this because I know from experience that working on anything while uncomfortable leaves you less likely to perform well. I also expect to learn more about the leadership in these companies. I expect this because the direction of a game is the most important part of the process. Without it, each team working on the game will most likely go in whatever direction they want instead of staying focused on a single direction. If I find information that contradicts what I’ve stated, then I have no issues with writing about it. Even if it does disprove my original argument, it would still be a good learning experience for myself and those who are reading.

Original Topic: How Does Music Play a Role in Society REVISED(10/18): How Has Music Played a Role in American Social Movements?

I am interested in this question because music has been present for thousands of years and has a lot of influence on society. Many people enjoy music and listen to music for the sake of entertainment, including me, but music has evolved a lot over the years and there are many stories, symbols, and events that take place within the song itself that people miss. It’s pretty evident that music has played a role in society including culture, race, religion, and even just casually, but I want to dive deeply into what and how. Music serves as more than just entertainment and I feel that it is overlooked in today’s society. Music has played a big role in many movements and those movements can cause major changes, sometimes permanent. Many people don’t realize how influential music is and how being born into a certain generation of music, especially rap and hip-hop, can play a role in your environmental influence as you grow up. These days, there has been a major disagreement and conflict between younger and older generations regarding certain genres of music.

I use the word “role” and “influence” because music itself plays a role in these movements by using both ethos and pathos. For example, songs that strike hardship and the need for change in the world may persuade the listener to do something about it due to how beautifully it may be portrayed. However, songs with upbeat may make you feel happy. In the bigger picture, songs can do both and inflict feelings of strength, bravery, and determination. One example of this that inspired my question is Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” from the album “To Pimp A Butterfly.” I listened to it a lot before I really knew what it stood for. On it’s release, it became the Black Lives Matter anthem for the marches of 2015 and when I realized that it was more than just a talented artist and a beat, it really caught my interest.

Kendrick Lamar’s Controversial and Empowering Cover Art for Studio Album To Pimp A ButterFly

In my research, I expect to find reasons on why music has played a role in social movements and how it has influenced many. I expect to find certain songs that may have influenced millions of people or played a role in a movement. In today’s society, music has evolved to be more expressive of violence and “normalizes” the use of violence causing conflicting arguments blaming current violence on the use of it in music. There has even been a bill passed called Senate Bill S7527 or “Rap Act” banning the use of rap lyrics in court. A lot of people, especially “rap fanatics” view this as an important stepping stone in society and view it as a movement itself. Overall, I want my research to cover all the major reasons music played an important role throughout history and today’s society.

If I find information that goes completely against what I expected to find, then my opinion will definitely change, but nonetheless, it would still be interesting to me. Currently, my belief is that it has played an important role in the development of certain movements and I expect to find songs that support my claim, but in the scenario that my research goes against what information I expect to find, I will not change my belief and instead I will go into a different area of research.

In the end, regardless of whether my point stands, I will definitely learn more about a topic that I am personally interested in. I also hope to inform the people who read it about the importance of music not just in today’s society, but throughout history. From wars to parties, weddings to funerals, music has played an important role in not just the influence of people and their emotions, but in the development of humankind itself.

Revision/Updated as of today: Robots and Their Future in The Work Field.

UPDATED: 10/13/22

About a year ago Elon Musk revealed the Tesla robot for AI day as a new project. When I saw the robot reveal the points he made about the robot’s main purpose was to eliminate “dangerous, repetitive, and boring tasks.” I saw this but did not think much of it. AI day 2022 happened about 1 week ago and we got to see the first prototype of the robot, to be honest, I was not impressed. Other companies such as Boston Dynamics, Sony, Honda, and even college students at Purdue university have a better human-like movement that flows better than the Tesla robot. But it did get me thinking about how the future of the world would look like and how secure our are jobs going to be. When I was in elementary school, I vividly remember being in a robotics class with the NAO Robot in which we were able to program it to walk and do a little dance, since then robots have been getting increasingly smarter, better, and stronger.

So, with this research, I hope to find an estimated year in which robots will take the jobs of certain areas in the work field, such as surgeons/doctors, receptionists, transportation, and retail service. When you start to think about the future of the work field. Why pay someone $20,000 per year when a Tesla robot is about $20,000 one-time purchase which will save you money and assist companies with getting rid of unskilled labor? And to me that is just not acceptable we will be leaving so many people without jobs and the future will depend on robots if they get to the point where they are capable of doing so. The Tesla bot aims to perform working tasks which means it will be very good at it, better than humans so again it’s only a matter of time before they do and leave people without a job.

If I find information that goes completely against what I had expected to find during my extensive research and my thoughts. I do not see the point in starting over or throwing the idea out. I still think I will continue to write about it because it is an issue of when will it happen and how soon it does get to the point where machine learning and AI get good at identifying real-world problems and solving them with a computer algorithm in minutes or even seconds. Robots at the moment are designed to perform one specific task, which is why they are really good at it. But what happens when a robot then gets the illusion of free will? can it start to think for itself and perform tasks it “feels” will best benefit them? Will we refer to robots as equal or higher-ups? We truly are living in a dystopian world.

I still think I will continue to write about it because it is an issue of when will it happen and how soon it does get to the point where machine learning and AI get good at identifying real world problems and solving them with a computer algorithm in minutes or even seconds. Robots at the moment are designed to perform one specific task, which is why they are really good at it. But when a robot then gets the illusion of free will, it can start to think for itself and perform tasks it “feels” will best benefit them. And it’s hard to not think that we truly are living in a dystopian world.

Research question

What are the long lasting mental, effects of parental divorce have on children? I am interested in this topic because I have a personal experience with this topic. It always has sparked my interest because I am the result of divorced parents. But i also know that not everyone is like me and we every child has a different affects. I also would like to research and learn more about this topic because my second major choice was Communications and that involves learning a lot about certain peoples triggers and childhood experiences which that major relates to this research topic, so all it all connects which each other which is really interesting! While researching I have many expectations, I have a feeling that most of the recourses online will see opinion based blogs, and personal blogs where people with divorced parents and the short and long term effects on it. I expect these results because there is no real answer to this question, everyone turns out differently and it makes me wonder the difference ways kids turn out and grow up effects. If the results aren’t what i expected and the results turn out to be and if we all have similar results i would be really surprised but i will not changed my topic, and i will definitely challenge my assumptions. I say this now because i already know that what i expect will be the results because no one is the same and we all heal differently, and it really all depends on the situation not all divorce situations ended bad. There can be parents who didnt end so bad and the child may or may not have negative effects. Some positive can come out of situations like this, but i strongly believe that everything i gather will mostly be on the negative spectrum.
