My Happiest Place

Everyone has there own places that make them happy and bring value into their life. But To be honest i don’t really know what my happiest place is because they’re are so many places that make me happy and that make life enjoyable. For example i love going to amusement parks like Adventure land or splish Spalsh here in Long Island, those places make me happy because they are fun and they are both places you can enjoy with your family or friends. And the amount of fun is endless because they’re are so many things you can do like going on water rides or roller coasters. every time i go i get so excited because i always have fun and i have a blast with my family and friends. Another place that i love going to is the beach because you can chill with your family and have a picnic along the beach. i also love laying on the sand and getting a tan. And sometimes i just like to simply sit on the sand and watch the waves crash along the shore and i like to watch people play in the water. as long as i can enjoy my time with family and friends, really any place can make me happy. There’s so many things you can do in this world so why not go out and enjoy it. so when asked Whats your Happiest place? its hard to pick just one.

LIC Piers, The Happiest Place

Picking the happiest place here in NY is actually rather hard. I’ve lived in New York all my life so picking a place here was hard. There was multiple places here in New York that I absolutely love. The place that brings me the most happiness is LIC Piers or Gantry Plaza State Park. Located in Long Island City, Queens, this park has a beautiful view of the East River and Manhattan.

I have spend a lot of my time here at the piers. Since my high school was located really close, I would always have time to come by after school and relax. I loved being able to look at the water and just watch the skyline of the city. Walking to every dock is also an adventure itself. Every dock has different things that make it unique, seats, or large sinks that fishers used to be clean the fish they caught when it was allowed.

The memories I have here are endless. Having spent so much time with my friends was the best. I would sit there and think about all the times we’ve been there and remember all those laughs we all shared. Other than being a nice place to relax, the memories bring so much happiness to my heart.

The most recent memory of happiness was when my friends and I decided that we would have a photo session at the piers before prom. That picture session ended up being a funny one more than productive. Everyone in our high school ended up going their for their pictures. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that, thinking about it now just brings a smile to my face.

I encourage anyone who is around LIC to stop by the piers and just take a nice walk, sit around and look at the view. Gantry Plaza State Park is an easy walk from the 7 train (Vernon Boulevard/Jackson Avenue) or the G train (21st Street/Jackson Avenue).

Happiest places in NYC

The happiest places in the city i have realized can be anywhere for me. But there are two places that stand out the most to me. One of those places is anywhere on my skateboard. The love i have put into skateboarding has given me the opportunity to get my soles as well as my soul off the ground to a point that feels like astral projection, when i skateboard i feel as if none of the evil in the world can touch me. My skateboard also allows me to move through time and space faster than people running because of the balance I’ve developed over the years. I like to meet different people everywhere in the city and spread positivity wherever I’m at. I love to make people smile and feel good, I’ve learned I can learn a lot about myself by talking to older people as well as younger people. Talking to little kids for example make me feel like a little kid again which is beautiful. Older people I’ve also realized can teach me a lot, some times I think they are losing hope and no longer believe in true love but I make sure to make a fallacy of such beliefs. Whenever I have Rhythm And Poetry aka rap music I’ve also learned can help me feel good wherever I’m at, for they serve as modern day hymns that give me power. The second place that makes me most happy is the building where i currently reside. “No time for sleep i gets deep as a baritone, killer bee that be holding down his honey comb, loungin’ sun, wu brother #1, swingin’ swords chopping guillotines here they come” -Method Man (Shadowboxin’). To I,  these lyrics reflect the lounge where I interact with the people in my building as well as finish homework, and create art. I believe its important everyone perceive there place of stay as a loving place where they can accept, spread, and amplify the love they’re feeling because as Byrnes text said, the law of attraction is the most powerful law in the universe. Where you rest your head is important because its where your dreams develop.

Me, NYC & Happiness.

New York City is probably the happiest place in the world for me. I love its fast pace lifestyle, the different boroughs, all the different little worlds in NY that I have yet to see. You would think I would like Times Square or Central Park but no, the one place besides my house that makes me happy and at peace is Pier 6. As a matter of fact, I didn’t discover Pier 6 or otherwise known as the Brooklyn Bridge Pier, until I started my exploration at City Tech over the summer. Pier 6 is the most wonderful place to go, whether it is by myself, with friends or with my family. I love it over there! I’ve never gone in the morning but, I’m sure its just as beautiful as any other time of the day. Playing volleyball during the summer at the courts is amazing as well, its so much fun especially when I’m with my friends. Also, going in the evening, watching the sun set is gorgeous and just so peaceful. I can go to the pier for hours and never get bored. Another place that makes me happy is anywhere with food because I really love food. I really love Chipotle and Panera because I can get my food and walk down to the pier and relax. The Pier for me is a way of relaxing and getting away from the world. Its my go to place whenever I want to get away from life and everything else going on. Pier 6 is my happiest place in New York.

The best Saturday that I’ve had in years… (^_^)

Honestly, I didn’t have any place in New York that has brought me happy memories.  For the ones that I did have, too many negative things and people ruined those memories.  So I decided that I wanted to change a lot about my life for the better.  I wanted to experience things that before I’ve never did.  When I started college, I wanted that to be the starting point and it did in such a unexpected way because I didn’t think it would happen so soon.  I have met a bunch of wonderful people but these two people just seem to get me in ways that others have judged me for.  They are so much fun to be around and makes coming to school even more enjoyable.  They have made such an impression on me that I always go home and tell my sister about them.  Anyway, we had decided, one day while being in school, to go out.  At first, I was very hesitant.  I’m not one to “hang out” I personally prefer to be in the house but I, along with my sister as usual, convinced myself to actually go out and have fun because I can’t stay in the house forever.  I had so much fun!  We went to Manhattan on 42nd Street Dallas BBQ and AMC Movie Theater for dinner and a movie.  I haven’t enjoyed myself like that in a long time, at least not with people outside of my family.  It was like a breath of fresh air from my life at home.  I can actually say that I experienced life the way a young woman should, being out with people who you can laugh, talk serious with, or even cry in front of over something that may have been so simple, even if it didn’t feel that way at the moment.  I wouldn’t change anything about that day because that it will always be special to me and hopefully many more to come.  Those places my just seem like just simple places to everyone else but for me, I will always remember when I walk pass them, the crazy time I had with two special people.

Two Happy Places– Central Park and Metropolitan Museum of Art

One of the happiest places in NYC is Central Park, its one of the most famous

park in NYC or even in the world. It is located in the center of Manhattan.

I think Central Park promotes happiness so much. There  are many reasons

that I like about Central ParkOne of the reasons that the I like the park is that

it make me feel so comfortable and have a sense that I am surrounded

by the nature. This is where a place that can give people the feeling of

relaxation. Other than that, people can also get fresh air.It is so beautiful,

the scenery is such a fabulous, splendid picture to me. There are plenty of trees,

lakes, ponds, statues and different facilities as well. The park boasts several

lakes, theaters, ice rinks, fountains, tennis courts, baseball fields, many

playgrounds and other facilities. ( As we can see, this is not only a park, it also like

a recreation center for people in the city and even for the visitors in the

world to have fun. They can have many activities there or they can just

spend the time to take some nice pictures with the beautiful scenery

for memories. Another reason that I think Central Park is a place that

promotes happiness a lot is that it is near the Metropolitan Museum of Art,

which this is another place that is good to visit. We can learn many historical

things from this big museum. Because of this, people can visit that area for

not only the relaxation in the park, but also can learn about history at the

same area if they want to go to the museum. I think these are some of

the reasons why these two of the New York City Attractions can be

considered as happy places in NYC.

My world.

The two places in New York City which always seem to bring joy to me when I am down and out, are 14street and a pier. Not many people know about this pier.  I’m not going to say where because it holds a special place to me and I don’t want others going. I enjoy going to 14street because I know the area so well and there is always something happening or something to do. Usually I will go by myself and walk around and shop or get something to get from chipotle, maybe 16 handles. I enjoy doing this because it gives me time to clear my head and get away from my stress. I also like to go to the stores and see what’s in. I’m almost always in forever21, when I go to 14street.

For me the pier that I go to holds a special meaning because someone who I hold dear to my heart first brought me there. There are a lot of memories and whenever I go I feel a sense of joy, although things have changed I still have that place where I can go and feel okay. The view of the water makes me feel so at peace and I can just lay on the grass for hours. I have never brought anyone else there and I don’t think I will any time soon because it’s a place where I can go when the world get’s too hectic for me. It’s like I’m am in my own little world where for a moment everything else does not matter.

My experience in city tech

When I got the acceptance letter to City Tech, I was surprised and excited at the same time. I was surprised due to my extremely low grades, and SAT scores. I was also excited because a lot of my friends are currently enrolled in City Tech. When people told me that I actually had to do study and submit my work on time, I didn’t believe them. Now that I actually attend college and get to experience the college courses, I realized that not believing them was a huge mistake. In order for me to pass college, I’ll have to change my mentality on school. When I first stepped into my human services class, I was extremely nervous. We all sat in a circle facing the professor. The first thing I noticed was that the professor spoke and acted in a professional manner. After realizing that the professor was serious about our work and study, it was time for me to step my game up. Even though college may be challenging and stressful, it was time for me to acknowledge that I have to push myself to further my goals in the future.

My experiences at City Tech

People running everywhere, elevators full of students and staff members standing at the entrance door explaining freshman’s where to go. That is the first memory that comes to my mind every time I think about City Tech. While I was in my last year of High School, I had the belief that college was going to be very difficult for me because sometimes I looked at how my sister stress out with a lot of things that professors leave her to do. But the reality is that for me college isn’t that difficult even though the first days I wasn’t prepared for this big step. However, as the days were passing I was more focused and prepared for everything related with college and my future.

Coming at City Tech was something new for me, obviously it has its negative things but it also has its positive ones. One of the good things was that I got the opportunity of choosing my own schedule whereas in high school I didn’t had the best one. Everyone knows that on High School we passed almost the whole day sated in a chair watching the teacher talk and basically just writing. So being able to choose my own classes was good because it changed my daily life style.

City Tech has not only opened their entrance door for me, also it has opened many other doors full of opportunities and goals that don’t come very often. All my life I used to speak on my own language even when I was on high school. Since I am in City tech I have the opportunity of communicating in English and at the same improving my language skills every day. Another good thing that City tech has brought to me is interactions with new people from a different race. City tech is definitely like my second home after my own house. College is where I spend more time and getting more opportunities and new goals. That’s why I can say that i have overcome my college obstacle.

My experiences at City Tech

Attending City Tech has come to be more than what I expected.  The first thing that really made me happy about starting school was that I didn’t have to worry about rushing from my daughter’s old daycare and be on time for class in the morning.  They have a wonderful child care program with small age appropriate classrooms right in the school.  I love that!  Each child can be monitored with what ever task that they are doing.  At the end of the semester, the parents get the evaluations taken by the teachers of their child’s progress from the start to the end of the semester.  Being able to take my daughter to school with me takes a big stress off my shoulders.  I don’t have to worry about rushing, making sure that I can pick her up in the afternoon, and whenever I feel the need to check on her I know that she is right downstairs.

The classes aren’t as hard as I thought that they were going to be but with me having a lovely habit of procrastinating with school work, I tend to make things harder for myself.  The professors aren’t as harsh as I thought they would have been.  I’ve always assumed they walk in, write stuff on the board, vaguely teach their lessons, and leave.  I was surprised that most of my professors wanted to get to know their students.  Some making it a mission to learn their students’ name before the end of the semester.  At least three of the professors that I have try to make being in the classroom a comfortable place to learn and express yourself.  They encourage group conversations and classroom discussions that they themselves participate in.  For me, the amount of effort that I put into my work and studying are starting to show, whether good or bad, and professors don’t have a problem with letting me know how good I am doing or what I can to do improve my grades.   I am enjoying the classes that I have and I hope that they will only get better.

Seeing the I wasn’t much of a social person in high school, I wanted things to be different when I started college.  I’m not saying that I talk to everyone in all of my classes but I try to have a positive attitude and I try to make myself very approachable because I know how hard it is to talk to someone you don’t know.  I have met some amazing people since I’ve been here, some so different than me but that’s what makes talking to them so much fun.  Having so many people with different personalities helps me to understand things a lot better.  Some people have even made such an influence on my life that I have changed in ways that I never thought I would.  I am starting to experience what its like to be in college but to also experience life and what it has to offer.

College is the time when you prepare yourself for what life is all about, learning, meeting new people, trying different things, becoming an adult, and developing who you are as a person.  In this time, you are beginning to mold yourself into the person you want to become.  My experiences at City Tech so far are wonderful!  I wouldn’t change a thing because everything you do whether good or bad is a learning experience and I am appreciating all the things that I have learned.  Even though I don’t plan to stay and graduate from this school, I will never forget my first time in college. The moments that I’ve had and the ones that I will create are moments that I will share with my daughter when she decides to go to college.
