Tax Credits Help LBHC Build Wellness Center

This article explains the importance of wellness centers and how they can contribute to helping students get jobs in the future. Little Big Horn college finished establishing its new health and wellness center that is about thirty five thousand square feet long. This wellness center was built to favor the students’ health needs as well as help them get good paying jobs as they go on to graduate, but more so into health related fields. Dr. David Yarlott, who is the president of the college states, “A healthier student tends to be a better student academically, and this facility also will help alleviate or curtail the number of community members becoming afflicted with health-related diseases.” The wellness center includes a gymnasium, a cardio room, public lockers, restrooms, strength training rooms and etc. So far as a result of the health and wellness center ninety eight construction jobs were created. Not only can people exercise in the wellness center, but they can also hold graduations there, pow wows, and other social events.

Wellness Centers should be established in every college because they can be very useful to students who want to improve their health or gain some knowledge on things that they don’t understand about their bodies and current health. This source points out the differences in wellness centers between LBHC and City Tech. At City Tech the wellness center is very small and does not have all of the different things that LBHC has. Some people aren’t even aware of where the wellness center is. It is very important that students know where their wellness center is so that they can go and ask questions if need be. It would also be very nice if City Tech’s wellness center had different things such as cardio rooms, yoga classes, and etc.

Association Between Availability and Quality of Health Services in Schools and Reproductive Health Outcomes Among Students: A Multilevel Observational Study.

This article is about how the availability of health services in schools contributes to pregnancies among students. Researchers used, “a 2-stage random sampling cluster design to collect nationally representative data from 9107 students from 96 New Zealand high schools.” Students were then asked questions about whether they were sexually active or not, how often did they use contraception and etc. The administrators of the schools also answered some questions about how many hours per week doctors and nurses worked. The results of the research shows that the amount of pregnancies decreased the more hours that the nurses and doctors put in. “There was an inverse association between hours of nursing and doctor time and pregnancy involvement among sexually active students, with fewer pregnancies among students in schools with more than 10 hours of nursing and doctor time per 100 students.” Because the availability of the nurses and doctors was good, there were less students getting pregnant. Students should be able to come to wellness centers and get information on this topic because the information will teach them about safe sex practices. At City Tech the wellness center does provide a lot of information about safe sex and contraception, but people still aren’t aware of its services or where it is located.

As they try to examine the areas of the wellness center, they notice many things about obesity. Seeing how the environment has an impact on these sort of things, they wish to get a better feel and understanding of it. Saying that the environment may provide a sedentary life style. In other words, people tend to not do anything because of the environment and are just lazy with nothing to physically do. The group believes this idea and shows in places they go. This is great thing to use when it comes to understanding our problem, as a college and see if the environment makes the people lazy. This’ll help us in many aspects because on how they tackle on the idea of the environment being what it is and how it impacts us everyday.

This is a great article, talks about others field work in the place and how it has grown in time. The System is a perfect thing to look at when we need a reference to what is needed if we need to rebuild the wellness center. Gives us a better insight to nursing, care, and the community.

Ever since the shooting at Virginia Tech there have been other threats at different colleges and universities. The campus safety officials have much to deal with especially since there have been many threats going around whether it’s from the people at the college or outsiders. It’s very hard for them because of certain laws made by the campus law agencies, which, at the same time protect the people on campus as well as making sure the people still have their freedoms. Another issue is that, if things get out of hand with shootings, threats, fights then it brings the value of the environment of the campus and it becomes harder for students to thrive in their education and career. Overall the campus and law enforcement want to keep everybody on campus safe at the same time addressing this information so that the college can become a safer environment to be in.

A Collaborative Approach to College and University Student Health and Wellness

Many colleges and universities are facing financial downfall in which they do not have enough money to attend to certain facilities such as the wellness center. People are expecting the colleges to have these facilities and because of that colleges take a large portion of their money to make the wellness and fitness services available to the students. The universities think that students would think of the wellness center as a good place to go to but instead they find out that students are avoiding the wellness center unless someone is injured or ill. Colleges want the students to cooperate with the wellness and fitness services. As much as the universities want their students to participate in these programs their budget doesn’t allow them to remain available. Due to the fact that there are so many programs and facilities each one must fight to remain open which leads many other facilities to shut down. With the help of the students and the parents the administrators will fight to make sure these facilities can be provided to the students.

Exploring the Wellness-center (Dina, Brittany, & Esteban O. Ramos_the 2nd)

The topic chosen to discuss was The Health Center. How has the wellness-center promote the well being of the City Tech Students (?)  Many answer came up, such as, it is something that needed to  be tackle for teens who were ill-informed, people have yet to know how HIV can be transmitted or how giving a sip of soda to others can lead to some bad things, but the real reason that a raised  the most was, city tech students are young adults that have yet to be exposed to these facts. Facts ranging from, being a single mom, HIV, STDS, and many, many more that the wellness-center provides information to. A lot of information underneath people in the wellness-center, topics that can and will grab readers with the harsh truth about sex, drugs and pregnancy. People should be interested in the wellness-ness center because it does not only informs you but also has pills, check ups and vaccinations are provided.

The information that’ll be used will mostly be from the wellbeing-center such as, pamphlets, interviewing some of the workers and pictures of how the informations is being showed to the students. Another way we are going to get our information from is asking students around city tech and see how they are informed. Something that the students will be asked are, are they getting the information about safe sex (?) how has the college informed them about information (?) what do they wish to learn from the health center (?) and what would they wish for the health center do to help promote their infomation (?) The project is argumentative, the college needs to promote more information to the students, rather than having it underneath people all the time.

Happiest Place in NYC

I love going places, whether it be the City, my Bodega, or even Barclay Center. All these places have a great memory in my heart, but there is one place that I love for its vast memories. It is called, Sunset Park, this where I ran around with my close friends since Middle School. Shared memories with many throughout all four seasons of the year. I remember running around with my three best pals, fights with an army of squirrels, yes, an army of tiny little critters and holding hands with a certain women, at the time. I can remember when ever I got into a fight with my parents, I went walking through the park while watching the sunset or even seeing the city lights at night and gasping at its beauty. Running through the park with my best friends yelling vulgar names at each other, for fun. Being with that certain someone, at the time, just sitting in the benches and having the conversation of a life time, or just walking around holding hands and her criticisms of my small hands. This park has so many memories that if I choose to write about it with every detail, I could write a 400 Page book called, My Happiest Place in NYC.This is will forever be the place I’d go to forget my day and let myself be for it contains more than just memories, it contains me.

My Experience IN City Tech.

I remembering walking into City Tech. for the first time during Summer, I had to take remedial math from 8:30am – 1:30pm on the 6th floor. Once I stepped in, it felt like a new world has emerged right in front of my very eyes. I was happy, yet scared, I didn’t believe I’d make it in college, the idea of failing made me fear stepping into unknown territory. I wanted to walk out with a white flag yelling “This isn’t for me.” I sat down in my chair and waited for the Professor to show up. I looked around the classroom and saw that they all had the same face I had on, skeptical. I knew I wasn’t the only one, this fact made me feel like I’m already apart of something great, apart in college experience, even if it was for one second. Once the Professor enter the room, it felt nothing like high school, everyone looked up at her and was ready to do work in a flash. I was one of them, I was capture by this fact and knew that if I wanted to start somewhere, this was the place. The feeling of failing went down the drain once The Professor started to teach. I knew I was in good hands, but more importantly I walked out with my hands and head held high. I was ready for each day to come.

H(app)anthon

In Somerville, they are teaming up with an organization to monitor their happiness. Somerville will serve as a pilot for this project, The H (app) athon Project. This app first starts off asking questions and once you get that down, it starts to show you places that’ll better suit their happiness. The Mayor states, “It’s an ambitious idea…it will help residents find resources that they might not know otherwise.” They used the survey that Somerville had done in 2011, and with it, a date was formed to create report on wellbeing that helps give information for policy in the city.

New York, starts off complimenting us and then putting us down, great way to start off in an article. Their goal is to find happiness in a geographical way. They notice that people that live next to airports or train stations are not tend to be happy. They are always in rage with the fact that there is so much noise all around them. Even thought there isn’t much happiness in those particular areas, there are still other places that bring happiness to New Yorkers, such as New York Botanical Garden, Red Hood Park, Central Park and many, many more.

The Happiness Project

Gretchen Rubin, starts off the story by explaining herself here in the book, as a simple person with much in her life. Later on in life she starts to question a certain idea, is she letting everything pass her by (?) She wants to feel grateful for her everyday life, but she cant seem to grasp it inside that bus. She saids that she didn’t want to look back and tell herself that a certain time in her life she was happy without her realizing it. She wanted to be grateful now before it’s too late. So she made a Happiness Project but before she did she had ideas of her self. Cut lose around her life but be series. Changed herself but yet accept herself for who she is, she is in a conflict with herself. She goes in searching for big names just like the author from The Secret goes and search for, and that is how people lived their lives. How these famous people achieved happiness. She tries and educate herself all through out this journey she has made herself. She wants to try and achieve this happiness by putting in the time and effort in the Happiness Project.

War Bonds, Propaganda.

War Bonds

WAR BONDS

This propaganda, during the time of WWII, was mainly trying to push people who haven’t invested to invest in war bonds. War Bonds finance military operations and other expenditure. They are trying to push the fact that something like in the picture will happen, unless you contribute to the war. This picture is promoting happiness by showing that it starts with investing in what ever it is telling you to, in order to be safe. The picture is showing who the “bad guy” is here, those who we are warring with. Showing their deadly side, trying to promote that this is the face of terror. At the end it saids “Back up our Battleskies!” with a man wearing a sailor hat and suit. Trying to say that this is the type of man you should trust here, and invest.
