An important aspect of Part of the final Unit 3 research project is thinking about audience, and how to best communicate with that audience. Using different vernaculars/dialects/registers with different audiences can make for more effective communication, depending on context.
Respond in writing to the following:

I grew up in the Philippines which means that I can speak Tagalog which is my native language, I can also speak English and Ilokano a dialect in my country. Most of the time I speak Tagalog with my family who are living in the Philippines to communicate with them, and when Iām talking with my dadās family I speak Ilokano. Ever since I moved here in America I started using English as a medium to communicate with my friends who grew up here, with my dad, and professors. Communicating with my friends and family in different languages doesnāt feel odd since iām used to it, but sometimes it shocks me when I can no longer speak my own language fluently. My intended audience impact how I speak to someone in a way that I have to be mindful and careful on the words that I choose to use, it should be appropriate and written in well-mannered. My purpose for communication impact the way I communicate because I have to adjust my tone and style depending on whom I talking with, as well as approaching other people in formal or informal way. By knowing my audience and purpose I can deliver a similar message and purpose although I have different audiences. I integrate all the languages I speak to ensure my proficiency in professional or academic settings. In my Unit 3 research I used English language to communicate effectively with my audiences because English is the only language where I can communicate with my audiences. The genre that Im planning to use is video, because my topic is about poverty and appealing to people emotions (pathos) will be much easier for them to see the point of why I dedicated my time in covering this issue. Additionally, I feel like video will work effectively when it comes to this certain topic, because a lot of people prefers to see how poverty actually affects the psychological or the mental health of children in poverty.
1- I speak English and Spanish.
2- With my family I speak Spanish, with some of my friends from Dominican Republic and my cousins I speak both, and with the other ones that lives here I speak just English.
3- I feel the same, obviously it is easier to me to communicate in Spanish.
4- I try to talk formally when Iām communicating with my mom and eldest people. With friends and others family members I choice an informal words and speech.
5- I try to identify to who Iām going to talk and then I find the most effective way to communicate what I want to say and the tone that I need to use.
6- As in the question above, I have to identify to who Iām going to talk, Iām not going to talk in a formal way to my cousin as the same way that I speak to someone at work or my professors at school. I try to find the words and ways to express the message on a way that they understand me.
7- In Dominican Republic when you speak English and Spanish a lot of people use something that they call āSpanglishā, this way I combine both languages. Most of the people that I know speak those languages so is a very easy way for us to communicate and combine both.
8- In my final project is in English, there is a word in Spanish, but I add the translation to English. I decided to add that word because is a word that the Dominican police use to identify Haitians, and I feel that the idea it was going to be more effective that way.
9- The genre is infographics. That way I could explain in a short way such a big history that those countries have.

I am a native English speaker and as such I have full command of the language, yet I also can maneuver within and between different registers and discourses within English. For instance, I adopt the official language of scholars when writing academic papers, colloquial English while talking to friends and relatives, and compassionate language while talking about mental health problems with friends. The shifts help me be proficient in relating to various environments.
I employ formal English especially when talking with teachers, administrators, or with a professional CAR audience. Casual English is used in informal situations when people may talk with friends or relatives. While engaging in conversation about someoneās mental status with my fellow people, I make sure that the words I choose and the overall nonverbal communication are Also caring thus responding to my friendsā caring in a similar manner.
I consider it liberating to switch the way I use words based on the given situation. It directly enables me to get better at how I communicate with my audience, whether it is about getting my message across clearly, or trying to understand what they need and have to say. For example, there is little room for emotions when it comes to discussing mental health, but the points need to be made clear to drive the point home.
I have enumerated my intended audience because these constantly shape how I present a message. For instance, when explaining to college administrators or university faculty about mental health measures, I stick to professional language, numbers, and medical advice. When addressing peers, I may be more informal and may use stories or appeal to feelings in order to activate my audience for the discussion.
Function dictates the substance and the language of the message that I am sending. At times I write persuasively while writing about the need to increase the availability of mental health services in college campuses. To this end, I employ the combination of some rather phenomenal appeal, theoretical analysis, and passionate tale to come up with a rational and emotional concept strategically designed to convince the audience.
The same message can be given with a different tone and in a more complicated way so that it can appeal to different target groups. For instance, when speaking to college administrators on mental health issues, I would provide numerical facts, organizational effects, and systems solutions. If I were to address the students, anecdotal narrations should be underlined, and practical lessons provided to generate an appeal to the emotions and appeal for self-organization.
In English, I easily switch between directives, formal and informal to match the occasion. For example, in my research project, I use both technical and critical analysis, as well as inscribing personal thoughts and incorporating storying components for a range of audiences. This integration allows my work to be professional and at the same time create an emotional appeal considered in professional practice.
In my project, I write with an academic register although the language is rather professional and reflective and it conveys an empathetic attitude. In this way, it is possible to provide sound arguments supported by studies, and, at the same time, include such opinions and well-reasoned conclusions that stress the advert human side of the matters in question. Combining the cognitive approach with emotionally charged issues is essential when addressing mental health issues because peopleās minds will be convinced by logic but their hearts will remember compassion.
From the type of submission, my project is a conventional written academic type of essay. This format is good because it allows for the proper organization of the research study, analysis, and recommendation sections. For the present case, ethos, pathos, and logos are combinable and they would help me in convincing administrators, faculty, parents, etc. It also allows flexibility to combine different narratives in this case narrative together with the empirical story as the main evidence in pushing the case forward.
