Self Analysis

Learning Self-Analysis for the Program

I would like to share some of my thoughts and experiences during my journey on my Baccalaureate nursing program at New York City College of Technology.  As graduation is quickly approaching, I realize I have made a steady progress in my professional and individual growth. I have been fortunate to have some excellent CUNY professors in this RN-BSN program who have helped me to extend my knowledge in my nursing career.   I have learned different aspects of nursing other than the necessary nursing skills in this RN-BSN program.  I have learned the leadership management technique, research technique, the community assessment technique and the future of the nursing program which I am unaware in the AAS program.  All of my clinical professors are willing to share their vast clinical knowledge and special experience with me during each semester.

I have found myself so different from when I first started with the program.  Now I have found much easier to do a term paper, I have no problem to find related resource from the website or from the library to complete my assignment.  I can understand my manager or supervisor more when we discuss nursing processes and personnel.  I have learned what good leadership consists of and what it takes to be a good leader.  I feel more comfortable talking to my manager in regard to my needs and the patients’ needs professionally.  Prior to starting this program the only thing I care is to obtain the skills and knowledge to provide a safe nursing care to my patients.  Now I have learned some other factors can contribute great influence to my patient’s well-being and healing process.  I pay much more attention to my patient’s psychosocial needs to approach to a holistic care.  I have a better understanding and idea on the future nursing trends, I now know the facts and I will prepare better in my future career.  I have learned there are many different nursing positions in the current market or even in the near future.

Through the Baccalaureate nursing program at New York City College of Technology, I have learned and obtained the required skills and knowledge to elevate my practice as a nurse. I am eager to utilize the new skills and knowledge I obtained in the fields.  As graduation is near, I feel more confidence than ever to work as a nurse.  I am proud and glad to be part of the Baccalaureate nursing program at New York City College of Technology.
