Hello! My name is Ashley Sugrim and growing up, I had no idea what I wanted to be.

Wanting to become a dental hygienist was a last minute decision of mine. As a child, I never aspired to be in the dental field. All I knew was that I did not want to be a doctor but I did want to be in the medical field helping people but didn’t have a specific area of interest. After 3 years of college at Long Island University and changing my major 5 times, I still couldn’t figure it out so I asked myself “what makes the most amount of money in the shortest amount of time?” I heard about the dental hygiene program at New York City College of Technology and was confident that I’d get into the program after reading what was required.

Fortunately for me, I got accepted into the program and as time went on, I learned to love hygiene. I appreciate the discipline it thought me and being able to help my patients get to and maintain an optimum oral health. It makes me feel good the positive feedback I get from my patients and that I made a difference for them.
