Fareez Mohammed Hw #4: Is It Time to Take Down the Mona Lisa?

I disagree with the article because I believe the Mona Lisa should still be available for people to see the painting. Leonardo da Vinci had many different ideas and view of his art. This one painting shows us Mona Lisa and what he believes beauty was at that time.  Many people all over the world come to visit it today because it is one of a kind and it is a very famous painting. Currently the Mona Lisa is at the Louvre, in Paris where over 30,000 people come to visit daily. The Louvre House has a very vast collection of art in Europe, and to take the Mona Lisa down from this Museum would make it very displeasing to many people visiting and wanting to see this work of art. Also, if this painting were to be taken down, I would not have the opportunity to see it. Based on the description of the painting this is something that I would not want to miss seeing.

Fareez Mohammed – How Would You Rebuild A Gothic Church?

Based on the article “How would you rebuild a Gothic Church” I believe the Notre Dame should be redesigned with a modern look. The cathedral has countless rib vaults throughout the church. If rebuilt using a more modern style the church’s rib vaults should have a sleeker construct. The church should incorporate various Neo-Gothic elements to have a similar appearance to the past. The flying buttress should remain as a structural support of the building. The building material should consist of the same materials that were first used to make the building. However, stronger materials should be incorporated to protect the church from catastrophes such as earthquakes, fires, and water damage.

Fareez Mohammed: How Evil was Commodus?

The Bust of Commodus As Hercules is a sculpture that showcases Commodus strive for power. Commodus was a Roman Emperor who took part in the gladiatorial games in Roman. In this sculpture, Commodus has a loin pelt draped over his head and shoulder symbolizing power. In his right hand, he is holding a wooden stick that looks like a baton and in his left hand, he is holding an apple. Commodus muscular arms is another representation of power and stature. Commodus thinks he is the true Hercules and believes he is one of the strongest heroes in Greek. Commodus is a malicious person because of all the wicked deeds he committed. For example, he killed many of his people for his amusement. He was a powerful ruler and wanted people to worship him like a God. Commodus was an emperor that sought power and respect. I believe that Commodus is an egotistical person because he is cocky and full of himself. He sought power by degrading his people. I believe a true hero is a person who cares for his subjects and does not demand their devotion to make themselves feel validated. After learning the history of this sculpture I now see it as a symbol of oppression.
