I believe it is an art in a way. Whenever someone take a selfie, they often have to put things into consideration. For example, when you take a picture of yourself, you have to think about the placement of the photograph. There is also the consideration of the background and the cropping. If all these are involved then I would say its art. However there are cases where the person just want a quick snap of themselves. Many of those were taken in the as a straight on shot in a restroom. I don’t think those are art at all.
