Introduction to Textiles Course Description:

This course introduces the evolving world of fashion and textiles, focusing on the relationship between textiles, merchandisers, buyers, and retailers. It covers essential knowledge of fibers, yarns, cloth construction, finishes, and embellishments, helping students evaluate fabric quality and make informed decisions for fashion and home furnishings. The course emphasizes practical and theoretical understanding of textile strategies, including identifying different types of fabrics, distinguishing between natural and manufactured fibers, and analyzing the properties and uses of various textiles. Students learn about textile dyeing, printing, and finishing methods, as well as the impact of textile laws and trade agreements on the industry.
