Learning Self-Analysis

In the process of completing the Nursing Baccalaureate Program at New York City College of Technology, I learned a lot about the discipline of nursing. I have learned about the evidence based practice which is required for every nurse to use according to the scope of practice of nursing. Evidence based practice makes a big difference in the care I provide to my patients. For my community health class, my clinical experience was excellent. I had the chance to sit down with six and seven years old children who where newly diagnose of diabetes. I was able to communicate with them and their family about diabetic specific diet and exercises. These children were willing to learn and listen.  Based on those interactions, importantly feedback were gathered and incorporated in future sessions. I usually work with adults but was able to work with infants and adults at the Williamsburg Community Center. It was a wonderful experience. I realized that I am more of hands on learner rather than simply reading about it. It allows me to gain my own perspective which I am constantly working to improve.
