project 1 Debriefing

We did not understand the problem on the first try, we put too much emphasis and energy into the look of the final product instead of the designer’s intentions and spent extra money to get expensive materials.

we learned that for the packing for load out that it is important to have a final checklist.

Organizing and assigning tasks that can be worked individually when the group can’t meet. As well as short term assignments and delegating roles to team members.

the main issues at stake where procuring the materials and creating the instructions to create an edible peanut butter and jelly sandwich that meets the design’s intentions in the theater.

We only worked together in a group and neglected to delegate individual roles other than generally meeting project outline.

We did meet the general goals but did not organize the load out procedure and left out updated paper work and used over zealous packaging at the detriment of the content that we intended to protect.

Analyzes

This could be applied to any load out and load in situation that involves using multiple crews and large distances.

I remember a crew call at New York Stage and Film where a specific gobo was was needed but not included with the light order. A driver and a navigator had to be pulled out the crews to drive the company van out to pick up the gobo from Yale. Lucky New York Stage and Film had cheap labor in abundance and could spare the hands to fetch it.

In the real world, science pieces would already have a ground plan and sketches from the designer. A props master or stage manager would have a conversations and have directions for food items used by actors on stage.

application

I learned that each member should have all the contact information of the other group members. To set up meetings as well as online task when unforeseen events prevent group meetings. Have a check off list to make sure that each and every vital task is completed then only have stretch goals if time and resources allow for it.

I can apply the communication to future group projects for planning milestones and coordinating tasks.

I can use what I learned here to proactively retrieve tasks from my group leader in the physics 1002 class and stay on top of the class goals.
