SCHEDULE UPDATE & MID-SEMESTER GRADES
Hi Class,
I hope you all are well. I forgot to mention during our last class that this coming Thursday 4/9 is Spring recess and we will NOT have class. Our next webex class session is 4/16. Our course calendar on our Open Lab site is updated, please review.
I will email you your midsemester grades this week. It will include all work submitted prior to 4/9 8am (our usual class time). I’ve gone through approximately half of the student shared folders and while there are several students I applaud for having turned in all assignments to date (I am amazed at your hard work, especially through these tough times), there are still many students that have not submitted work on dropbox. Some of you have been in contact with me regarding technology or other issues. I understand this is a very tough time for some of you. Please aim to get your assignments submitted via dropbox before 4/9 so that I can provide you productive feedback.
NOTE: I’ve created a subfolder named “GRADED WORK” within our individual shared dropbox folders. As I grade your work, I’ll move your assignment over to this subfolder, along with a copy of the file with your grade using the same file name but with “GRADED” at the end of the file name. This will allow us to track which assignments have been graded and you can check the “GRADED WORK” subfolder for your assignment grade. DO NOT MOVE YOUR WORK TO THIS FOLDER, I’LL MOVE IT AS YOUR ASSIGNMENTS ARE GRADED. Please let me know if any questions.
Thanks and I hope you all are staying safe and in good health.
Best Regards,
Prof Anderson

New York Times Academic Pass!
Thanks to CUNY Libraries, you and your students now have full complimentary access to NYTimes.com and NYTimes mobile apps, as well as their international editions. Please encourage your students to visit nytimes.com/passes to activate their own free Pass. CUNY’s subscription entitles all people with a cuny.edu email domain to acquire a subscription to the digital NYTimes so you and your students must register using your City Tech email.
For Users:
Once you have created an account, access from anywhere will simply require your NYTimes login. Your subscription via CUNY will be active for a year from the date you create it.
An NYTimes Academic Pass provides you with full access to NYTimes.com and the NYTimes.com smartphone apps* for the period of time designated by your institution. Your school has set your pass to be good for 52 weeks from the date you activate it.
Your subscription does not include e-reader editions, Premium Crosswords or The New York Times Crosswords apps. NYTimes apps are not supported on all devices. Access to archived articles within the date range 1923-1980 is limited. You must have a valid email address from a participating school. Other restrictionsmay apply.
Get Started: Go to nytimes.com/passes.
1. Click on “Register” to create a NYTimes.com account using your school email address.
2. At the bottom of the Welcome page, click “Continue.”
3. If your email address is from an eligible school, you will then see “Check your email.” Look for our message, Confirm Your Email Address, which should arrivewithin 15 minutes.
4. Click on the link in our confirmation email. This will simultaneously verify your eligibility and grant your Academic Pass, which will provide access toNYTimes.com for your campus designated period.
5. If you don’t get our confirmation email, check your spam filter. If you still do not receive it, send an email from your school email account toedu@nytimes.com
IMPORTANT: If you wish to subscribe to a CUNY academic pass and you already have a subscription (or have registered) with NYTimes Digital and you used your CUNY email on that subscription, you should change the email address on that subscription (to any email address that does not have a CUNY domain) and then use your CUNY email to get the academic pass.
Returning Users
Once you have followed the steps for first-time users and activated an Academic Pass provided by your school, it should allow you full access for 52 weeks (364days) with no further action on your part.
However, if for any reason while on NYTimes.com you are served the message that you are reaching the limit of free articles on the site, do the following: Makesure you are logged in to NYTimes.com with your school email address. Go to nytimes.com/passes. Your pass should again be active.
Smartphone Apps
Your Academic Pass includes access to The New York Times via the NYTimes smartphone apps. To download your smartphone app, visit: nytimes.com/mobile. Once you have registered and selected your Academic Pass, you can then access nytimes.com from anywhere at any time during the life ofthat pass from most web capable devices.
