  1. The concept of the American Dream is possible, but not everyone has an equal playing field. Some people have to work twice as hard because all the resources are not available to them. Access to financial resources has a great impact on your life opportunities. It means that you have more choices and a better chance at the American Dream.

  2. The concept of the American dream is not a fair concept to me just because I believe anyone who does “pull themselves up by their bootstraps” always ends up getting the worst outcome. For non-whites this was extremely difficult because no matter how hard they worked they still weren’t able to get the nice house or the good paying jobs. Honestly, I believe that concept is bogus ! Just off the simple fact that Whites were getting privileged because their skin color was lighter than most people in the world. If you think about it Whites didn’t have to do the gruesome factory jobs or accept low wages for the work they were doing. Some of them got the wealth because it was being taken away from those who really were suppose to earn it. If this concept was true many non-whites would be living the life the whites have. The long term impact is that its sending a misleading message to the future generations who will work hard and later realize no matter how hard you work if your skin is anything but white you won’t be receiving the true rewards you deserve. Not only that, but if the right financial support isn’t available it will be really difficult to live life and its sad that it starts from generations before. Without financial resources one can’t go to school or live in an affordable home even if they deserve to.

  3. This is difficult for individuals who are not white for many reasons. one i believe that people that are not white may try to work hard to build their american dream. But i also believe the american system is set up for the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer. Working hard and not being able to enjoy the benefit of it is very discouraging and can make one give up on building that american dream. Being in denial can make one miss out of opportunities. if i had more access to financial resource i would make decision that will allow me to be more comfortable.

  4. The concept of American dream is not fair enough for all the people who are permanent resident as we as for the naturalized citizen. One may work hard to fulfill their American dream, but for most cases it never come true. Since, we are still can’t get rid of the racial classification, it makes the effort much harder as it is actually. White people can easily dominated because of their vast financial resources. On the other hand, people who immigrated in this country found it hard because of the new environment, different cultures, as well as lack of diversity. If a person have more financial resources, then he can always create more chances to find him in a better place, however as an immigrant he/she has to be careful to utilize their resources to get the best outcome.

  5. The concept of American dream is possible; however not everyone can achieve it. People who come from overseas try their best to make it possible; however some of them may find it harder than others. Like, people who are already have a good financial resources can easily find themselves in a position in America. However, the amount of stress one person has to deal may be intolerable in some cases. In a new world, they have to fight against their mind to set hem here. The most difficulty occurs when the people are working their best but not recognizing for the domination white groups. Whites are still count to be a dominate in America and there are many of them who doesn’t want to provide the opportunity to other races people to be successful.

  6. The American Dream concept about anyone working hard can achieve beneficial rewards is not as possible as it sounds. I do believe that, with more effort and sacrifice one could possibly achieve more of their desires. However, the system is designed to prevent the non-whites from achieving any part of the American Dream easily. With limited resources and high expenses, it is difficult for anyone to take risks or to make attempts to achieve major goals.

Owning a home is a form of success but there are red-tapes to prevent non-whites from achieving mortgages even when they are qualified. The mortgage rates are often higher, making it more difficult for these people to own and keep their homes. Non-whites are prevented from obtaining mortgages to live among whites, additionally, high taxes is another big scheme used to prevent them from owning homes in white communities.

With the inability to obtain quality education while supporting a family and paying rent, is also a perfect environment to prevent non- whites from owning a home and/or achieving a better education. The long term impact could be an increase in violence, a civil war between whites and non-whites or the minority groups unite, pool their resources and command equally in all major aspects of society.

  7. The American dream is a struggle for other not defined as white because those who do not own their own home and pay rent do not get to build equity. Many people who own a home usually pass on their inheritance down to family members giving them a boost in life. However if one’s family doesn’t own a home, there is nothing to pass down, continuing the cycle of a struggle. Obtaining a mortgage loan is much more difficult for others not defined as a white. Minorities are struck in low-income neighborhoods and working low-income jobs. The long-term impact of that denial places a daily burden on minorities. This denial can affect a person’s health. Financial resources are to help one achieve their financial goals, such as owning your own home, paying out debt and loans. They are to boost your life opportunities. Having access to financial resources should be available to everyone and to accommodate everyone’s life style. Before, obtaining a mortgage loan was much easier than it is today. For instance, one must have at least six months’ worth of mortgage in the bank, along with a stable income etc. The criteria has changed tremendously.

  8. The problem is a very complex one. Most of black people count on public schools for their kids’ education while their white counterparts benefit from the privilege of private schools. Classes there are made of small groups (approximately less than 20 students) and its normal that such students will perform better than blacks do. Let extend the scenario a little be more, assume that one black student had succeeded to graduate. Do you think that she/he will go for a graduate diploma?. Only a rare minority will do but the majority will settle with a low wage job working for a white person’s business. Let’s assume that a group of a newly graduated individuals want to do something about the issue. They want to start their own business instead of working for while dudes. They will be shortly affronted with the obstacle of lack of capital. They must now seek a business loan. In order to achieve this goal they first must present some sort of warranty to the financial institution “borrower” which they don’t have. This is just another dead end that groups of minority blacks suffer from. One way to deal with the issue of inequality is to implement policies that suggest an ease on letting the poor get access to credit from private white borrowers.

  9. It’s sad to see that no matter who you are, if you are white, there is a certain advantage that you have over others and that is you will be most likely get hired whether or not you have a criminal record. Fortanelty, there are companies out there that wish to become diverse and would like to have people of color. On the other hand, this isn’t the case for the whole country and there is still discrimination occurring when it comes to job applications. We have been ignoring the fact that this does not exist and instead make excuses when it comes to these issues. Now the same is occurring with the poor as they are excluded from various opportunities because they do have the financial support as other rich white folks. We must make this equal to everyone as soon as possible.

  10. The harsh part of the American Dream is that not everyone can achieve it, even they work really hard. People who are not defined as white have difficult time achieving it because of discrimination. There is always someone that tries to bring them down. Competition and overpopulation also makes it hard to achieve the American Dream because there are many people completing for well paid jobs and there not enough decent jobs for everyone. The long-term impact of that denial is that they missed out their opportunities, benefits, or rewards. Having access to financial resources gives you better and more opportunities.

  11. > Central to the concept of the American Dream is the notion that anyone who works hard enough will be rewarded—that anyone can “pull themselves up by their bootstraps.” How has this been made more difficult for people not defined as white? What is the long-term impact of that denial? What difference does access to financial resources make in terms of your life opportunities?

The concept of living the American dream has been a lot harder for nonwhites because of the discrimination within the country. Nonwhites and immigrants have been given the most demanding jobs and have not been paid nearly enough. This then leaves them in the state of denial which might create stress leading to severe health issues. Having access to financial resources can increase several opportunities for one. In order to I erase opportunities, one must also have the certain look to back it up. Several jobs might look at skin color, weight, age, etc. unfortunately this is how society works in America. Without people speaking up about these issues, things will not change.

  12. The American Dream is more difficult for people that arent defined as white because they dont receive the same support from society. In some cases we se how black people have it more difficult to obtain a job when having the same skill level as a white person. For example the stat of how it is more likely for a white man who has a criminal history is more likely to get a job over a black man who never went to jail. On the contrary we see how there are some services out there that will give a black man a job or a black person a scholarship just to meet some type or requirement. along with all of this finical comes into play as well. Obv it is less likely someone with little money to prevail in todays world due to how expensive the world is now a days but you can once in a while hear a story how someone can prevail. I believe education has now become the key to making the american dream possible and it can someday hopefully make is as equal for all races in the future.

  13. The American Dream is just really a dream that non-whites have, and a way of living shown in movies. No matter how hard you work it’s impossible for people like immigrants who come to America to have this style of living. They eventually notice that all you have to do is work, go home to sleep, and wake up again to go back and work. Colored people also have a low chance of moving forward in a higher position and becoming very important in their job. Let’s say a white man may have had the opportunity to earn a college degree or financial status may seem to put him in the place he is. A colored man and white man may have the same skills but yet the white may get paid more, or move up. Also immigrants that work really hard more than forty hours and are struggling with poor condition are the ones getting paid minimum wage or even less. Sometimes the fear of getting deported or just being minority leads to these problems which won’t let immigrants and colored people to reach and live the American Dream.

  14. The American dream…. it’s unfair to immigrants to achieve the American dream. You can be a doctor in your country but once you enter another country (America) you start off at any job, which most likely a minimum paying jobs because since there is a barrier in education your degree equivalence is different. You end up in a me labor intensive job and providing for a family becomes hard, then stress comes along. The more denial you get the more you want to give up on hope.

  15. The American dream is a beautiful idea, however very difficult to achieve. Many people migrate to the U.S. in hopes to become successful, and in reality they make less money then expected and their health deteriorates. People with color seem to always have it twice as hard due to the fact that racism and discrimination unfortunately still exists. Having the financial resources gives you an advantage. You don’t have to work as hard to make it. Working hard does pay off, but if you don’t have the necessary resources, whether financial, connections, etc., it will always be harder to succeed.

  16. The American dream is viewed different by different people living here in the United States. However, many individuals try to accomplish all their goals before going back to their born country. It is more difficult for people not white to be rewarded by saying the American dream can be accomplish if the individuals “pulls themselves” because there are many obstacles that stop them. On the other hand, the lack of financial resources affect Illegal Immigrants on the long term. These people also work long days even work for low paying jobs so they can accomplish their American dream however, towards the end when it’s time for retirement they would never benefit by 401k or social security since they don’t have a social security they can report to. In addition, their health gets impacted since these immigrants have jobs that many Americans workers refuse in doing. Most of these jobs make these workers expose to harmful chemicals or don’t provide proper training for these workers.

  17. The concept of the American Dream was developed following the arrival of immigrants to the United States. During this period of time, America was known as the land of opportunities. Immigrants wanted to improve their financial situation and better their lifestyles by coming to America. Nonetheless, they faced a series of challenges, especially after experiencing inequality in the workforce.
An immigrant worker is considered an outcast to American society as well as inferior to the white population. As a result, immigrants
do not have the same opportunities as American citizens. They work for long hours, receive minimal rewards, and live in a stressful environment. This situation generates frustration and produces an unhealthy lifestyle. On the other hand, financial resources eliminate stress and lead to a healthier lifestyle.
Access to financial resources makes a difference in terms of my life opportunities For example, money might prevent me from acquiring the materials I need to succeed. A lack of financial resources pushes me to work longer hours to raise money to pay off my needs. However, juggling multiple responsibilities, such as work and school, increases my level of stress. There is obviously a trade-off between being more financially stable and sustaining a healthier lifestyle.

  18. This notion has been made more difficult for people not defined as white due to that we are not treated or looked at the same way. Lenders, banks etc. usually give the “yes” or “no” and usually those people are white. So, just from that point its already unfair. long term impact is non whites just give up or work for the rest of their lives to achieve that white standard but really don’t enjoy their achievements as the whites would, because it took us longer and a hard road to get the scrapes. Access to financial resources makes a hug difference in life opportunities. one better home, better health, better quality of living, less stress, better choices of food.

  19. > people considered not white have been struggling about this matter for decades, finding a lot of difficults, because the economy power continues in white people hands. The power is given for the wealth, who is países generation to generation creating an endless loop where main characters are the same. Every thing is aviso utilizar moneda, if you do not access to it

The American Dream is dead or never existed for anyone that is not white, also do not believe what you see on television or hear. Either you will get something out of this so called opportunity or nothing at all. The system is set up to have the haves and the have not, people live way of their means and put their selves in debt just to have things they can’t afford. Working hard does not get you the big house with two cars and a good job, you end up with a job you don’t like and living in a place you somewhat can’t stand. If you are white in this country life is as one, two, three, even if you are white from a bad neighborhood and want to get out, there isn’t anything stopping them or in their way. It will all be practically be handed to them on a sliver platter. Now if you are none white, you will have to work ten times more to achieve one third of what they have and by doing so your health can deteriorate and life expectancy can drop dramatically. If you are a person of color, you will have to be very lucky to get the financial help from a bank to take out a loan for a house or school. The interest rate will be three times that of a white person and that is something that is not going to change any time soon. Anyone of color that wants to have a real American Dream will have to go another first world country because having that here is like one in a million.

  21. It is true that when one works hard enough them can achieve any and everything. How ever we also have to take into account that not everything in life is possible. This happens due to other things which comes into play in the real world. The long term impact would be that sometimes people gets stressed out and it effects their health. Apart from health it can also effect their social status and the social life around them. Having access to financial resources make things easy in life and gains a better opportunity because that you have money and a lot of things in life comes with money, because nowadays money is everything.

  22. The American Dram is the USA most recognizable ethos. The American Dream talks about prosperity, opportunity , and success for everyone, who work really hard. Moreover, it promise possible upward of social mobility for all hard working members of society. However, the whole concept of American Dream seems not to be very accurate and promising for racial groups. The modern USA wealth structure seems to be conserve racial inequalities between generations. For instance, the person not consider white, wasn’t able to buy a house or properties, and by that secure the future of his children. Furthermore, the house owned by not white person didn’t have as much value as the house owned by white person. All the racial discrimination, especially in sociology-economical issues resulting now in not equal wealth distribution in USA. Typical white American is able to have secure education path, just because many decades ago his parents or grandparent bought a house, which now is worth significant amount of money. Thus, that white person doesn’t have to worry about skyrocketing prices of housing and rent. In the other hand, not white member of society can’t invest properly in own education, because his grandparents or parents weren’t able to secure his financial future due to racial discrimination.

  23. the American Dreams are the job opportunity, education opportunity, and medical opportunity. we all live our country to come to United State for a better life. Our goal is to have the best education, to have a great job after graduation, and to buy a beautiful house. it was very difficult to accomplish such goal because of racism. we learned from the movie how the court law made it so hard for immigrants to become American Citizen because they were not white. if someone is not an American citizen that person won’t be able to take all the advantage that the American Dreams are offering. over time life have been changed. racism is not the same. we even have a black president. A lot of us have a chance to be what we want to be. some of us are doctors, nurses, engineers, etc.what a glorious opportunity that we have in America.

  24. If you said that everybody is equal in the United State, It sounds very right and nice. But I will not agree with you. The government has issued the law that racist is a serious violation but racist is still existing in reality. Specifically, Whites people always have a better chance to get a better job than other race in everywhere in the United State. For example, If my job is slow down and the owner wants to cut down the labor. Somebody gets laid off but no White in that laid-off group. The American dreams are opportunity for all American people. However, non-white people have to work 3 time harder white people to success. Not even that, sometime you still cannot success just because you are not White. Hopefully, our next couple generations will really destroy the wall of racist in the United States.
