According to the reading “Occupying Public Space, 2011” it is known that Zuccotti Park in NYC has had a major political role in how public space is used. In fact, they had to take the issue to court several times just to force the protestors out and change the rules at least 2 times. And on the reading “The Office of the People” otherwise, know as occupy, it talks about the issue on the second reading, “occupying public space” how they gathering was the people’s place to raise their voices, and talk about their own truth. This was ordinary citizens where they raised their voice and were heard for until they removed them from the occupy. At the end of the article, they raised a point, that said for anyone entering Liberty Square puts everyone on alert, declaring that “if you enter here, know that this space does not abide but the same rules as the rest of society.” You are allowed to change it, make it yours, and allow yourself to become someone else. While in this space you get to create a story of your own. This message is very powerful in a way because it expresses freedom in a wide range of levels. This reading encourages the designer to take a very deep look into the neighboorhood and the people to accommodate the needs of everyone because a public is meant to be used by the world itself.
