Portfolio descriptions
1.For goodwill message, I chose to write a thank you letter to the ABC’s company. The most important thing of a thank you letter is our attitude toward the others. We must be very sincere to express our gratitude. I used a lot of positive words to emphasize my sincerity. Avoiding use the negative words as possible as I can.
2.For informative message, we have to describe the value of our degree program. It is very different than the thank you letter because it needs to be very specific describing what value our degree brings in many aspects. Not easy.
3.Negative message, I wrote a letter address to the Children International, which is a non-profit organization that funded poor children internationally. In this letter, I have to give Children International a good reason to turn down its request and try to make negative message sounds comfortable.
4.Persuasive message, we have told we need to persuasive the potential employers to hire Interns at City Tech. I focus more on the skills and competencies our Interns acquire for the workplace. It is very difficult to make persuasive message very persuasive.
5.Short report on a proposal or service that we like to make in NYC. I did a proposal to build lockers inside of classroom 11th floor for ADV department, City Tech. Lockers are very necessary for ADV students, because ADV students have to carry more supplies than other program’s students.
6.For the last portfolio, it is our choice. I picked to do a booklet on Chinese dumpling, one of the traditional foods that represent the Chinese culture. There is big difference between the Chinese and American culture in terms of food. Through this booklet, I hope that Americans can know more about Chinese culture.
