Chapter 9 is an overall run-through about the world’s tourism market and history; it begins with the role of the World Tourism Organization, it’s purpose as a part of the U.N., the important aspects of it’s focus (such as maintaining the revenue gained globally by people engaging in travel and tourism; continuing economic development, including the increase of employment for the country’s citizens; maintaining a certain level of peace and connection between countries, etc). The presentation goes through the general history of travel and tourism, starting with the necessity of trade in Eurasia and parts of Africa; and then as migration became more of a trend, and community development in other countries, as well as technology developments like the train, the car and airplanes, the trends within travel and tourism blew up and became more diverse and profitable for many of the developed countries.
