Recreational time makes leisure days that mush more fulfilling. It is so important that the president earlier on had it added to the Declaration of Independence. We all know what it takes to run a household, imagine what it takes to run a country. Government sponsored recreation is to help citizens find ways to enjoy their free time. They want to make things like boating and driving a car accessible for people to own and operate. Another way to help people find things to do in their leisure is for them to take advantage of national parks. Lots to do and see there, fresh air and wild life to take your mind off work and de-stress. These national parks are managed and overseen by a director. Park maintenance and wildlife is not free, it can cost up to multi-billion of dollars to operate and run. There are many types of parks and recreational centers drawing in people from all over the world and size does matter. The bigger the park the more to do and see. As well as the more money that will go into ensuring it’s wilderness is preserved. Walt Disney forever changed the way we felt about going to a park. Not only did it bring our the kid in all of us but it reminded us and encouraged us that dreams do come through. Walt Disney world opened in 1971 and is still going strong today. Universal Studios owned by Time Warner is one of Disney’s biggest competitors. It is popular to movie goers. Sea World Parks and Entertainment, Hershey’s and Regional Theme Parks are also a competitor. You don’t need to pay and arm and a leg to enjoy what those parks has to offer many zoos, museums, and certain clubs have animal attractions and recreational activities. Moving onto chapter 10 , talks about recreation , leisure, and wellness. Recreation is the use of time for therapeutic refreshment of one’s body or mind. Recreation is always fun for all people especially young children at Disney land. Good times and experiences are always good for friends and family to share with other. Leisure time is basically any free time you have from work or discretionary time. Government sponsored parks are all over , they are wonderful places to go for recreational use. The government uses tax money incomes taxes and property taxes to raise money for these government sponsored recreation parks. We have 397 national parks around the United States. All employees are under certain budget for the national parks management. In 1920s-1930s recreation management was offered as community service. Commercial recreation which is called eco tourism provides visitors and residents to sightseeing of many different areas. Then we have theme parks which is my favorite type of recreation. They vary from theme according to history, cultural and geography. There are plenty of theme parks in the United States. Some of these parks are Walt Disney, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney Hollywood Studios, Universal studios, Sea World parks and entertainment, Hershey’s. You also have Regional theme parks like Dollywood, LegoLand , GatorLand, Wet n’Wild. We also have animal attraction such as safari at six flags and of course there is a zoo almost everywhere u go. Bronx zoo is very popular and is highly visited. There are also historic places people like to visit such as the Great Pyramids in Egypt. This would be considered heritage tourism since older people like to travel different places around the world. There are historic places and sites to visit in United States as well such as the Monticello home of Thomas Jefferson, the French Quarter in New Orleans and the Freedom trail in Boston. We also have Museums which has quadrupled since 1950. Different types of Museums include general, art, science and technology , natural history, history and military. You could almost never run out of recreational activities to do as you could visit a performing arts center to watch a musical or a play on Broadway. Managing attractions is just like any other business they plan , organize , make decision and control the business. My favorite attraction to visit is the club there are different types of clubs, lounges restaurants. There are city clubs , professional clubs , social clubs, athletic clubs, dining clubs, university clubs, military clubs , yacht clubs , fraternal clubs, proprietary clubs. Last we offer non commercial recreation such as Voluntary organizations , campus recreation, armed forces recreation , employee recreation and recreation for special populations.
