Course description:

Visual Merchandising explores how visual presentation and store environments are used to communicate a brand’s identity and influence consumer behavior in retail spaces. The course examines the principles of visual design, including color theory, composition, lighting, texture, and product placement, and how these elements are applied to create effective retail displays. Students analyze visual merchandising strategies used in department stores, specialty stores, boutiques, and other retail environments. The course also introduces techniques for designing window displays, creating promotional presentations, and developing professional retail portfolios. Through projects, critiques, and field observations, students gain practical experience in analyzing and creating visual displays that attract customers and enhance the overall retail experience.
