Trend Forecasting & Social Media provides an overview and analysis of current fashion trends and their influence on sales forecasting within the apparel industry. Students research and analyze emerging trends in color, textiles, silhouettes, and textures, and learn how these elements influence future fashion cycles. The course emphasizes the use of consumer research, social media analysis, historical fashion patterns, and cultural indicators to predict upcoming trends. Through written assignments, trend reports, and presentations, students develop seasonal and long-term forecasts and create professional materials such as mood boards, sketches, and merchandising plans that communicate trend concepts to designers, pattern makers, and industry professionals.
