Afia Jackson Nelson is a 21-year-old student attending New York City College of Technology, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business and Technology of Fashion. Afia was raised in Queens, NY. She was constantly inspired by the different looks her mother pulled and wanted to be just like her when she grew up— from wearing her heels when she left the house to trying on her stylish dresses. Afia also loved dolls growing up; styling them became one of her earliest ways of expressing creativity and building an eye for fashion. These early influences sparked an immense love for clothing and styling. For Afia, Fashion is not just about what is trendy or popular but about what makes her feel happy and herself. Pursuing this degree means a lot, as it finally allows her to follow a path that aligns with her passion. She is also determined to break generational patterns and create financial stability, aiming to build a future where she can turn her creative passion into a loving career.
