Course description:

Merchandising Planning & Control introduces students to the financial and analytical processes used in retail buying and merchandising operations. The course focuses on the mathematical concepts and techniques that support merchandise planning, inventory control, pricing strategies, and sales forecasting. Students learn how retailers plan inventory levels, calculate markups and markdowns, analyze sales performance, and maximize profitability through strategic merchandise planning. Through case studies, problem-solving exercises, and projects such as developing an open-to-buy plan, students gain practical experience applying merchandising mathematics and financial analysis to real retail business scenarios.
