Course description:

Introduction to the Fashion Industry provides a comprehensive overview of the structure and operations of the global fashion business. The course explores the major segments of the fashion industry, including textile production, design, manufacturing, merchandising, and retailing. Students learn how fashion products move through the industry—from raw materials and production to marketing, distribution, and the final consumer. The course also examines the roles of key professionals such as designers, merchandisers, fashion editors, and retailers within the fashion system. Additionally, students analyze how social, cultural, technological, and global influences shape fashion trends and consumer behavior. Through lectures, discussions, and research assignments, students gain a foundational understanding of career opportunities within the fashion industry and develop the analytical skills needed to evaluate the evolving fashion marketplace.
