I attended an animation in- person event at the School for Visual Arts theatre. Three employees who work at Disney Animation Studios came to make a presentation about the Animation Pipeline. The names of the three employees were Nicole Dial, a Puerto Rican woman who is a talent recruiter, Pam, a Caucasian woman who is a looks development artist and lastly Emily, an Asian woman who is a general technical director. An example the panelist used to describe the Animation Pipeline was the movie “Encanto”. They used the character Mirabel to discuss Pre-production, Production and Post-production of the pipeline.
I managed to ask a question regarding pitch television shows and Nicole told me that I should join film festivals and other events that have pitch outlines and get my foot in the door by working at an animation studio. Emily gave her two cents as she told me to add my personal project onto my resume as companies love clients who have original projects. I sent a LinkedIn invite to Nicole Dial because she is the one that recruits artists on the Disney team. On a side note, Disney Animation Studios are celebrating their 100th anniversary next year with their new film coming out “Wish”.
