“You can’t use up creativity.

The more you use, the more you have.”

— Maya Angelou

This quote is a great way to start the week.

Hello Monday!

Today the 15th, the 3rd week into November and time is FLYING!

I prob. will be saying this in the next couple of posts because I really can’t keep up. I blink and it’s the start of a new week.

We did not have a 9 am meeting which worked out in my favor because I have a lot of other work to do.

However we received email instructions that provided a link for reference and the banner specs.

This will be the second banner I’ve worked on. The first I made was weeks four and five. Today I was instructed to make 8 versions, 4 of each. There was a small difference in information:

  1. Spring 2022 Assessment Office Hours

Tuesdays 1–3 pm

February 1st – May 24th

Zoom

2. Spring 2022 Assessment Office Hours

Tuesdays 1 – 3 pm

February 1st – May 24th

3122 Boylan Hall

I looked at the example provided in the link and shown above. It was simplistic but nice with the gradient.

From these 11 weeks working with Isana I know she likes geometric shapes. I honestly made multiple. Many of which were geometric patterns. This is when the quote came in handy because I was feeling stuck. Each time I changed the patterned background the patterns would be distracting and the information would get lost.

My first two versions were using lines. The information needs to be the star of the banner. It should be readable and straightforward. The second two versions I wanted to call attention to the location of each. Not that they would be displayed together but because I thought it couldn’t hurt to try a different text arrangement besides center (Images provided below). There are four of each version because they are in both of the Brooklyn College fonts.

THURSDAY the 18th:

Woot woot! Five extra mins to make coffee.

Isana looked over all 32 of our designs. She mentioned minimal use of the warm grey and white. To try adding gradients and add the infamous geometric shapes.  Here’s what I came up with:

The top four my thought process was just to try alternate ways to display the information. The bottom 8 are variations of the first four on the above image page. All 8 are in Comenia Sans.
