Head Start Fluoride Varnish Program (4/2019)
Volunteered at a Head Start Program for children in Pre-K at Young Israel of Brighton Beach where I screened children for decay, documented any restorations present, and determined the urgency of care each child needed. After the screening process, I applied 5% sodium fluoride varnish on their teeth to prevent tooth decay.
Head Start Educational Program (03/2019)
Volunteered at a Head Start Program for children in Pre-K at Young Israel of Brighton Beach. During this event, I demonstrated to the children how to properly brush their teeth, and the importance of their oral health. Additionally, I informed these children about poor dietary habits that affect their oral cavity.
Service Learning Project – Oral Home Care for Orthodontic Patients (2/2019)
Four classmates and I went to a dental office that specializes in orthodontics where we informed patients how to properly care for their oral cavity. We demonstrated Charter’s toothbrushing method, and elaborated on nutritional dietary factors that should be adhered to.
Greater New York Dental Meeting – Colgate Smiles (11/2018)
Volunteered and collaborated with Colgate ® Give Kids A Smile at the Greater New York Dental Meeting. My classmates and I educated children about the importance of their oral health, discussed dietary habits, sang songs, played games, demonstrated proper toothbrushing technique, and helped dentists document any significant findings when doing oral screenings on these children.
Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (9/2014- 12/2014)
Volunteered at a nursing home where I initiated recreational activities with the residents that included educational, playful, and religious events. Additionally, I also updated daily charts and assisted with holiday ceremonies.
New York Hall of Science – Chemistry Day (10/2013 and 10/2014)
During this event, I demonstrated how to conduct an experiment called Super Shrinkers and explained its purpose to children and adults. Additionally, I helped each child individually conduct this experiment.
