I attended my first webinar a while ago. The name of the webinar was “Price Your Art with Confidence”. There were 3 speakers Shelli Beermann, Jodie King, and Kate Joiner. Now there were lots of things I learned from this webinar. I have never sold any pieces of mine because I don’t think they are professional enough to be sold. I even thought about giving some of my art pieces out for free, but hearing these 3 speakers who have been in this industry for many years now and hearing their advice made me appreciate my work and that I should sell it for a price and not give it out for free.
The things I learned were to always price my work with pride and not to fear it because if I were to fear putting a price on my work and just give it out for free I wouldn’t make any profit from my hard work. All those hours, materials, and print that I spent on my work would have been for nothing if I couldn’t profit from it and make a living off it. This is why you should price your work no matter what and if you already have a price for your work then don’t be afraid to change up the prices a bit because, in the end, it’s going to profit you. If you are going to change the prices you charge for your work make sure to gracefully increase it and not go overboard for example if you used to sell your work for $15 a piece you’re not just going to increase it to $50 out of nowhere you go at it bit by bit. You also want to ensure your work is worth that much and that the buyers are getting your best work. We also learned how we can use social media likes and follows to convert them to actual sales for our work and to use technology that we are lucky to have to find the right pricing for our work and not stress over it.
Overall I felt like this webinar was very informative. It made me see how much pricing matters when it comes to your work and that you should fear putting a price on it. You work so hard to create this work putting the hours in that it should be sold if you want to make a living out of your work no matter what industry that is. It was also so nice to ask these speakers questions about the industry and have a view from a person who’s in the industry. I can’t wait to go to more networking and webinar events in the future.
